Anyone who has ever played a heated game of pickup basketball knows that this kind of trash talk is not uncommon. However the fact that it was a female ref that he was talking to(and allegedly tossing a baskeball at, which could have been harmless or could have really been dangerous for all we know)makes this a bit unnacceptable. Lowry needs to come out and honestly explain his side and apologize quick and move on. I would assume Clark County PD would have bigger things to worry about in Vegas and just allow him to pay a fine. It just stinks that from now on Lowry will always have this hanging over his head.
What would your reaction be if Terrence Williams, Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson, Shane Battier, or Kenyon Martin did this? This is deeper than sports
The guy threw a basketball at her torso guys and she threw one back... no one even through a punch. Yes it is not cool at all and no I am not saying it was OK, but battery? Ironically, that 1K fine would be way less than anything he would have been hit with in the NBA.
I'm sure everyone here has wanted to whip a basketball in Violet Palmer's direction at one point or another.
If they take lowry off the ballot thats gonna be ****ed up because what about kobe and his incident with that girl in 03. he was still in the all star game
The "B****, meet me outside and I will kick your ass" is the damning part. I'm very curious to understand what exactly ticked Lowry off. Was it simply bad calls he didn't like? Were the refs talking back to Lowry? Was Lowry going through some emotional issues?
Lets give Kyle a break. As men, we've all at one point in our lives, have thrown balls at women and told them to meet us outside.
"He just beaned me with a basketball! OMG! Well, I'll toss the ball back to him now..." Is this what we are supposed to believe was the reaction of the ref? And by the way, having the other refs corroborate the story means nothing. They always look out for each other when it's them vs the players.
its not cut worthy at all. I suppose you would have cut Kobe or big Ben for their actions as well if you had the chance
williams: i wouldn't take it serious Artest: hes had alot of problems and he can't control himself Jackson:idk what i'd say Battier: i would be surprised Martin: idk
If they did this I would be disappointed. But no that does not mean I want to cut them though. Plus, if Lowry said this to a guy instead, would we be making a huge issue out of this? I'm not trying to be sexist here but if Lowry said "b****, meet me outside" to a guy instead I think a lot of us would be calling him badass. If I recall correctly Alston got into quite a few altercation as well, most of them quietly went away. It's not the end of the world
I'm with Nice Rollin. We don't know these players at all. Who they are when the cameras are on them with thousands watching in an NBA game could easily be totally different from their "real life" personalities. I know the few players I've met have been very different from their public perception. And, what Lowry did was inexcuseable but I didn't know getting a basketball thrown at you was considered assault.
