He averages 7 ppg because he gets just over 20 min a night. His numbers are good given how much PT he gets. Mayo and Conley get the vast majority of minutes in the backcourt, so that doesnt leave much time for Lowry. Also, Lowry has never had the pleasure of playing with a Yao Ming, a center that commands double teams. Im assuming Lowry will be more wide open with the Rockets than he ever has in his career.
Let just wait and see what he can do for us guys before we flame him, from the looks of the video, he is a decent defender!
The video isn't suppose to show how good he is. Its just to give people an idea of what kind of style of basketball he plays....Notice how on a lot of the plays he throws his body into the defender (or uses his body against the defender) to get a better layup opportunity or a trip to the FT line.
We have Yao who always clog up the paint, why do we need someone good at finishing around the basket? So Yao could move out the way and let the guy drive to the hole?.. With Yao, I always thought we need 3 point experts who can drive, not someone who shoots 25% three pointers...

Guys, stop with it. This trade won't happen unless we get an starting PG like Baron Davis. And then we would be talking about him, not Lowry. But stop comparing Alston with Lowry. Alston is better in everything. Alston is an starting PG of a very good team, while Lowry is a PG of a loser team, a player with terrible IQ and terrible decision making. Even worst shooting than Rafer. I know him because here in Spain I've watched A LOT Grizzlies games (Gasol's brothers). Lowry is a joke of PG. Alston only has the defect of the shooting %, but farther he's a VERY SOLID point guard. Morey wouldn't do that.
it's truly amazing to me how every night the majority of this board flames rafer then when we ship him out for another pg that can't be any worse than rafer, everybody starts screaming bad trade. You cant have a damn ALL STAR at every position.
whoop tee freakin dooo rafer has been running this team for years. lowry can't even get burn on a bad team, and now hes going to be seeing major minutes here. he has never played in a playoff. he is nowhere near ready for this and i can't understand the reasoning for this trade.
can't be any worse ? are you serious ? clearly, he IS worse. rafer may not have been great compared to other STARTERS in the league, but he is certainly better than a 2nd or 3rd stringer on a bad team. HOW DOES THIS HELP US ???
What did Rafer do for our team....a freaking late first round pick came on to the rockets and almost out shined rafer in his ROOKIE YEAR. Now second year AB has gotten even better and it was pretty clear that he was going to get the starting spot soon if Rafer stayed in Houston. If a rookie can come in and show us that a starting PG on a championship contending team was replaceable then I have faith that Lowry can come in and do better than rafer. Lowry has just needed some minutes on a team. On top of that you have to understand Rick Adelman is great at developing young guys...so give this guy a chance....Morey obviously did this because after all his number crunching he saw that a combo of Lowry and AB was an upgrade over Rafer and AB.
what did rafer do ??? hmmmm he ran the offense and played defense. he has been here for years so he has good chemistry with the players. he was also a LOCKER ROOM LEADER and i cannot stress that enough. how can you get rid of your floor general 30 games before the playoffs for a scrub like lowry ??? makes no damn sense. i thought we could get a 3 or 4 seed in the playoffs this year, but after this trade im thinking more like 6 7 8. lowry can't shoot for **** and we REALLY need that from him. he's a worse shooter than rafer.
Umm rafers FG% is 35% while Lowry is 42%...so exactly who is the better shooter now? Rafers defense was solid I'll give you that, but Lowry has pretty solid D too. The reason we signed Deke was for him to be our locker room leader. Also Rafer is 32years old and has way too many bad nights for the rockets to have kept him through his contract. Your giving him way too much credit saying we are going to drop 4spots in the West just because of Rafer. Do you know how many stupid games we have lost because of Rafer this season. A stupid turnover or a stupid 3pointer or a missed tear drop or even a 1-9 shooting night.
If you liked Francis and his hops, you probably won't dislike Lowry. We gain some quickness, and youth, but lost ton of bbal iq, passing and savyness. What happen to Luther, we can't move him?
Uh RA wasn't shooting the 3 well and he took a lot of them. KL takes very *few* 3's. He shoots a lot of mid range and slashes (which makes him an Adelman type of guy).
