CP3, Dwill, Rose, Parker, Westbrook. I'd take those guys over Lowry. Rondo...I don't know, he has a ton of talent surrounding him. I believe Lowry could do similar things playing with Pierce/Garnett/Allen Evans...no way in hell I'd take him over Lowry as my PG. MAYBE if it was a straight up trade, but Evans is not a good PG. Unless you want your PG loooking for his own shot all the time, Evans as far as i'm concerned is Francis version 2.0
I think Lowry's game is more similar to Kidd than Billups. He's a poor man's Kidd due to the lack of size and court vision.
Phil Jackson always has superstars in his team, but that doesn't mean he's not a HOF coach. Rondo has unique attributes to become an elite PG. His defense, rebounding, passing, ability to finish around rim are top notched among NBA PGs.
I do not think Morey will take Parker over Lowry. Parker is old, making more money than Lowry, I do not know why you take him over Lowry for this team. I could take Parker if we are running for a NBA title, not for this young team.
Same with Lowry except you can replace "finish around the rim" with "hit clutch shots from anywhere".
I though Lowry's game is similar to Kidd or Rondo, but suddenly, Lowry can shoot three well, then could become a hybrid Billups.
so you're implying that Lowry is more than sufficient to be a starter championship caliber PG. i agree with you.
Well, clutch shots is in special situation only, and it's not like Rondo never made clutch plays before. Yes, Lowry has a lot of those good attributes too, but Rondo seems to be a little better than him at almost everything except shooting. And Rondo's size does help him on defense. I believe Lowry will do very good on this Celtices team, and I also believe Rondo will impact the game in a good way without being surronded by Pierce/Allen/Garnet.
Kidd's 3 is underrated. He was terrible in his early years like Lowry, but pretty much acceptable afterwards.
That's a coach though. You really think Rondo would be as successful if he is on... say on the....Raptors? He has NO SHOT he has no threat to score...at all. Lowry is a better scorer than Rondo. Lowry can play defense as well as Rondo. Rondo is the better passer though, I'll give him that. But I doubt Rondo would be rated a top 5 PG if he's not surrounded by all that talent. Just like Marion, Marion was thought to be a very good player in Phoenix. When they had all that talent and when he went elsewhere he was just a good roleplayer. All he was ever doing was shooting open shots and playing great defense in PHX, but when your team asks you to do a lot more... If Rondo went to Toronto he'd have a much bigger role. He'd be asked to score 20ppg and keep his assist high. I really doubt Rondo would be able to be relied on that, like how Lowry is right now.
I'm not sure I agree with this. I believe the "test" you are referring to is already happening as we speak. Lowry's strengths has always been defense, rebounding, running the team, decision making- the little things that don't show up on the boxscore but helps the team win. His weakness has always been shooting and scoring. On the other hand we have surrounded him with solid shooters/scorers in Martin, Scola, Budinger, Lee, Patterson, Miller. A good opponent wouldn't want to hedge off of any of those if they had the choice. This is why the "test" is to let the worst scorer try to beat you while keeping everyone else in check. Let Lowry beat you. What we are witnessing right now is Lowry passing this "test" with flying colors. He is beating them. It's not about the shooting. It's not about the scoring. It is about taking what the defense is giving you(the test) and winning us games. What comes next is not another "test", but rather reaping the rewards of getting that A++. If teams really are taking notice, which they certainly are, then no longer can they leave Lowry wide open at the 3pt line. No longer can teams stick to all our other offensive weapons like glue, because they have to help off of them. That is great news for the Rockets, because those are things that play right into Lowry's ACTUAL strengths. If you get up on him as far out as the 3pt line, he will blow by you and penetrate your defense all night long. If you leave the other scorers to help on him he will pick your defense apart. Those are the things that we knew he excelled at all along. Now that he has shown the NBA he can beat you on his own as well, we are looking at a player who has no real weaknesses. Defenses will have to pick their poison. Disclaimer: Just because he might not have any real weaknesses doesn't mean he is a superstar. Lowry isn't "elite" at anything to be considered one.
The question is, is he good enough to be an integral piece on a championship team. I honestly would say YES at this point.
Come on, DWill might not be successful on Raptors. We are not talking about ugly situations, but how to evaluate a player based on attributes. Rondo has many attributes to allow him to be elite, and him being considered top 5 is not only because he's on Celtics. Rando can score if needed, his 49% career shooting percentage is not something to be ashamed of. And he IS a better defender than Lowry due to his size and long arms, that is something Lowry can't fix. And his vision too. I love Lowry, but I would still talke Rondo over him.
Kyle has always been a top notch defender.... and he's always hit the boards like a madman...his recent improvement from the outside though is obviously the product of hard work and confidence starting at the 1. It bodes well to say the least .....But what impresses me the most with him whether it's coming off the bench or starting are his leadership qualities. Lowry runs the team (making everyone else better)....makes better decisions with every game now...Kyle's letting the game come to him..and his courtvision is more than adequate. What I'm seeing at the moment is a complete game and if he keeps up this pace then he will indeed be an ALL STAR.
Absolutely. Without a doubt. In fact he is good enough to be an allstar a few times. I just included that disclaimer for the people who can't fathom how someone without weaknesses can still not be perfect. Wait wut?
I couldn't resist one last bit of Lowry love ...couldn't find it when I posted a second ago. Kyle has a feel for the game to go along with his other talents.
Rondo Number 2 Forsure but better DEFENSE and Shooting...But Hands down Derrick ROSE..and Cp3 ..Only thing Lowry is quick but can't cross like them but has better Defense..but that's what matter defense and get rebounds..dude had what 10-12 rebounds? and 10 assist and 28 point last nighT??
What does Kyle have that Rose, Wall, Rondo, CP3 don't have? Elite decision-making and offense-running instincts. That's why his team is one of the best offensive teams in the NBA and all those other guy's teams are below average offensively.
Yeah. I think the Rockets are very lucky to have him and DM did a great job seeing 'hidden' value in Lowry. If Lowry continues his play at this level, he'll be the All-star PG that many on here (including myself) had been clamoring for all this time. It's funny because we could be seeing an all-star unfolding right before our eyes and not even realize it...know what i mean?
