Too bad we ain't keeping him in the long run. Despite others, he can start for other teams. He ain't playing backup forever.

The only weakness he has is shooting and height. Height may be an issue but shooting has not been an issue for PG's like Kidd or Rondo.

With the right cast, he will be great.

Dunno, Lowry could be a starter for a bad team, but the better teams will want a better shooter. Teams will simply sag off him and play him for the drive.

And for anyone who wants to bring last night's game, it was simply that, one game.

Don't know if he said that, both are pretty much backups. Neither are starting PGs in this league. Right now, the Rockets need a shooter/scorer in their starting lineup more than they need a playmaking defensive minded Point Guard. Neither are starters, but I would say Lowry has more potential to be one than Aaron Brooks does.

Budinger has arguably outplayed Ariza and Battier all year, but he won't get to start unless they're injured or suspended. I don't think Lowry's outplayed Brooks, but he brings a lot to the table as a starter.

He is fast becoming mine as well. There has a lot of Bob Sura in him. He is a fighter--game 7 type player where it is all about want-to. He understands that every second on the court is precious. There are so many players who take breaks.

You're right,it was one game but he is improving and fights hard every night.
Both Brooks and he are backup PG's, but they do complement each other.

These appreciation threads are the dumbest thing and a complete waist. After they do something good then you want to appreciate them and start a post specifically for that game they played. Kinda sends a signal of front runners IMO.

don't like you calling my thread "the dumbest thing", and i did specify the game.

ps - it's "waste", not "waist". as a return, i call your post completely meaningless.

I didn't mean it like that, just that he could be that efficient every gmae, mostly shooting wise. The way he played last night was unbelievable. I like lowry just as much as brooks, but I still think brooks is better.

What i remember the most is not the points and assists, but the man would FLATOUT out-rebound the entire mavs team in the paint.

If...............Lowry can keep that jumper working and know when to pull it out and use it as a weapon like he did last night, consistently.............look out dog, he is gonna earn some major bank this summer.

I'm with you, Ibm. Nothing wrong with starting a thread in appreciation of Kyle's tremendous effort last night. He more than deserves it.

I personally think there are factions on this board that overrate Lowry's talents and skills. However, Kyle was crazy good last night and deserves his props. It would have been funny if he pulled a triple double.

I think there are factions on this board who don't know how lucky we are.

How often one can get a Chris Paul or a Nash or a Kidd? These kind of PGs do ot fall out of trees everyday.

And even then, those "starter material" players have their own weaknesses.... some cannot defend, some cannot shoot, yada yada.

For their "cost", Brooks and Lowry are undervalued. Simple.

This team is blessed enough as it is . Appreciate it. (well... except for those superstar injuries... sigh...)

Kyle Lowry is not here to be our primary scorer. He is here to play excellent defense and drive into the paint.

I think with the hustle he put into this game, he deserved to get 82 points and knock Kobe off the 2nd spot.

Okay, so do you suggest we start an appreciation thread after a bad game? Use your brain before you post next time, thanks.

I very much appreciate Kyle Lowry, which is what the thread is for :)

Didnt want to give an anti-opinion, but overall Brooks has outplayed Lowry up to this point for this year. Lowry needs to get some pointers from Ariza on how to improve a bad outside shot to a respectable percentage.

I disagree, Shane has been playing extremely solid games, becoming more active on the weak side help. His offense has run efficiently, he worked well with Hayes, these are simple plays, two smart players in Hayes and Battier are capable of running them without being stars, Adelman is a great Coach for this crew, still like JVG with Yao and Tmac, with these players on that team...if only. Adelman is a great coach though, each year he takes what you give him and makes a team out of it, with or without their stars. I am giddy about the amount of underrated talent this organization possesses.

all of our players (playing) have their strong points which are similar, they play hard on both sides of the court and share the rock. i hope mac gets it sooner than later because his playmaking abilities could really help open things up for some of our spot up shooters a la battier, ariza, budinger, AB. Lowry on the other hand is not expected to make perimeter shots, he plays solid d, is built like a tank and should play accordingly, drive and draw a foul or dish it out for a jumper.

    adelman knows what he's doing.
