Too funny. Some clown b****in' about Lowry who commits 1.8 fouls per 20 minutes played. Newsflash...Chuck Hayes commits 2.998 fouls for every 20 minutes played...and he walks on water around here.
One thing about Lowry, he is a bad three point shooter and we know that and even Morey knew that before he put the trigger on that deal. What is great about him is that he is damn ACTIVE, he can create plays for other guys and he is an enegry guy who will always put the pressure on the defense. And even Werrell mentioned that his midrange game is not that bad either. We need guys like that. We have shooters. Now we need penetrators who can create for those shooter and who can get to the line when the shots are not falling. We can't judge him yet. He is young and it is only his 2nd game as a Rocket. Come on, what do you expect from a guy who doesn't know wny team's plays and took part in only one practice...
be ready to be very dissapointed in lowry, i've never been a fan of his game. I dont think he has much potential. Hes more of a college style of player, not nba. I see him being a mediocre point guard at best
Rafer is a better player now, you are right but Lowry may be better in the future. He needs to work hard on his J. You know I was against this trade when I first saw it. But I like it now, at least I am ok with that. Lowry has skills, he will prove you wrong and he is YOUNG.
I like what I have seen so far; he is really aggressive defensively, more than most Rockets. He is "thicker" than his bio would indicate, looks strong. Anybody that plays really hard and aggressively on the Rockets really catches your eye, because until recently there was alot of standing around. I love his energy.
The fact of the matter is the people who are expecting Lowry to come in and be Tony Parker 2.0 need to get some perspective. The kid is young and raw, and frankly has never been on a winning team. If you were to ask him, he would probably tell you it's amazing to simply be playing games that MATTER this late in the season....forget contributing to the team. He's done an excellent job, imo, of running the offense for short periods of time, IN MINUTES THAT MATTER, without knowing any plays, and getting virtually no practice time with the team. He's basically just going off his teammates right now as to where he needs to be on the court. Give him time, and patience, and I believe he will be at worst, an incredibly solid backup PG for this team in the future. And remember, it's not like we traded Steve Nash for him......Rafer Alston's value wasn't exactly high around the league. We took advantage of a situation where a team was desperate, and gave them a piece they needed, and got a piece back that we can build with in the future. It's that simple. Some of you really need to mature. I think the posters on this board who have been watching basketball for 15+ years (not 15 years old, but have been watching basketball with an EDUCATED eye for 15 years) can attest to that fact.
I'm giving at least a couple of weeks (a dozen games) before I start making judgements. I wasn't pleased with the trade, but it's only fair to give the new backcourt rotation some time to settle out. Also, I'd be more concerned about the defense of players who never seem to pick up a foul. This is the NBA, where they whistle you for being within arms reach of a dunk. And maybe this is premature, but our fastbreaks have been looking impressive with Brooks-Lowry SPRINTING down the court with Wafer. Evan
\ Absolutely, that foul on Aldridge ensured that the ball wouldn't go in (you know, it wasn't one of those half-hearted ones where the guy scores anyway), and LA missed a free throw- smart D.
hey, we haven't loss a game since he arrived right? So i'm happy. I know that he has so much to learn... I know I hated that trade when it happened, but I love the way AB plays... I'm not really worried about Lowry, he is still young and new to the team... I'm sure he will be ok later on...
This guy pretty much stated my feelings on the deal. I wasn't exactly ecstatic about giving up Alston... but when I realized what Lowry can bring to the table, I was pumped to see him in action. He's not the best point guard at the moment, but he has the ability to contribute right now, as well as improve in the future. I'm excited about this kid.
i woulda gave this more time b4 making it a thread... ..only 3 games and I'm assuming for the most part he's just trying to show the organization how aggressive he is defensively...which is what our "slumping D" needs

I wouldn't roast Lowry yet. Too early to tell how things will turn out in the long run and we have managed to win all 3 games. That being said, Lowry has not been an upgrade over Rafer to this point.
I'm surprised you've gotten away with this statement. Maybe nobody took offense to the word decent? I did. Rafer was not a decent defender. He was average at very very best. He was consistently schooled by any solid PG in this league (pretty much3 out of 4 of all other PGs) in that he could never stop dribble penetration nor was he a quickhanded thief getting a bunch of steals. I hate busting on Rafer because I do legitimately like him as a person and think he "ran" the offense well. But those people who claimed he was a decent defender basically were trying to find something else positive to say about his game. Frankly, his "defense" for the most part consisted off getting into mano a mano matches with the Baron Davis' of the world...which didn't help. What's more, the concept that the fewer fouls per minute you commit correlates to better defense is so moronic it doesn't really even deserve a response. Alternatively, I do think it's fair to have hoped for a little bit more from Lowry thus far. The strange part is that when you watch him play, he seems to be doing a lot of things that make you say, yes, this is good. He uses his body well. He pushes the ball. He's making the right passes. He seems to be defending decently, actually. But then you check the boxscore and he just doesn't really show up that much. My feel is that this is the way he'll always be...which will make him an average to above average backup PG in this league. I'd obviously rather have a Leandro Barbosa, and maybe even a Jordan Farmar, but Lowry should be able to hold his own against most backup PGs in this league. I mean who is Utah's backup PG? Dallas and JJ Barea - great, he had one career game. Portland has Sergio Rodriguez and a ton of potential not a lot of results Bayless. San Antonio has George Hill (who shoots worse than Lowry). Anthony Carter of the Nuggets - solid backup, nothing special. The one thing Kyle does need to focus on is reducing turnovers, but I'm hopeful that will come with the chemistry.
