Not a free agent and the Wizards won't trade him now that he's finally beginning to show them something.
Kwame seems to be coming around for the Wizards, but still has mental problems with the game and authority. I was watching a Wizards game (don't ask why, you get board in college), but Kwame literally "zoned out" during FTs and his guy got an offensive board and putback before Kwame could even react. Not like it is a big deal, but MJ has talked about many times how this guy isn't all the way there, mentally. Even talking back at the coach in the locker-room.
Kwame would wilt under the intense pressure JVG puts on his players...hell, Kwame would wilt under the intense pressure Rudy T put on his players...
I'd definitely do this just because 2 is high enough to get a great future player like Howard or Livingston and Kwame would be the bonus who could end up great.
I like him and I don't get to see much of Wizards game. In fact i only seen him play once and he IS HUGE!!! I would try to get him to play with Yao that would be awesome..but that's just a dream.
He has size but lacks so much, mentally and basketball IQ wise. He is still learning but you hope he can actually live up to his skill as a player.
What about Mark Blount? Isn't this the last year of his rookie contract? He played very well in the 2nd half of this season. He would be a decent PF in the west for MLE, if we cannot land on a real star.
I don't see any reason the wiz would do this unless they move Arenas. And even then if they get the #2 pick, this would be stupid of them because they would be giving up 2 young big guys(Kwame and either Howard or Okafor) for Francis. Even the wiz can't be that stupid. Right?
Not Even Pierce? Only a couple of years ago, it looked like the sky was the limit for him. He bounced back from that horrific stabbing. And he was getting a lot of credit for being a clutch 4th quarter performer. What the heck happened to him?
people predicted that with 'Toine gone he'd pop in 30 a game. except he learned that only Allen Iverson can do that while being a one man show. think about it, who else do you need to stop on the Celtics? Marcus Banks? Chucky Atkins? Ricky Davis certainly isn't consistent. Jiri Welsch? Walter McCarty? I mean they don't have any other scoring options. Hell yeah Pierce would help the Rockets, but the only way to do that would be to trade Francis for him. Maybe I'd do that, maybe, but why would Boston trade away their only good player for someone on the same level? At least Pierce is bigger. Pierce's positives: AWESOME SHOOTER. Just a great shooter. Not really a pure shooter, but unlike Peja he can create his own. Knocks down tough jumpers from everywhere. Great rebounder too. Good spin move to the basket. He'd be good on the Rockets. Great? Maybe. Negatives: talk about Steve Francis turning it over alot, Paul Pierce... turnover prone. also... suspect handles, which is along the same lines.
I'd do Pierce for Francis in a second, Pierce's down year notwithstanding, and then try to convert Cat & players or TE into a point guard. Not sure what would get it done from Houston's perspective. I guess Francis and yet another 1st round draft pick would do, or take on Pierce plus bad contract with the TE if that is even possible? Maybe a 3-way deal would facilitate this involving T-mac or something. Not sure if Van G would do it though. I don't know enough about Pierce's defense.
Questions for you: Who lead the league in TOs this year? Who lead the league in TO/game this year? Real genius!
first of all, pierce doesn't play point guard, we would obviously also have to bring one in. secondly, if you wouldn't do this trade you're insane.
OK? You're point is that Pierce leads the league in TOs when all he really has to worry about is scoring. Good point! Someone else stated that Pierce is a strong defender? He defends big 2s well, not quick ones. Overall, he is average. The Cat is better! Also, the guy dominates the ball. He is not the player we need to complement Yao. I'll give you this though! The guy is tough as nails. But, so is Steve!
