Optimistic view- team will have a new GM by the offseason as the fallout from the KPJ disaster becomes untenable

Pessimistic view - new GM will have a Bubba Gump shrimp co. anchor attached just like the old one

 

No view - Things stay mostly the same. KPJ just goes away to Prison.

 

At some point - some journalist not in thrall to the Rockets is going to write a formal expose of the Rockets disastrous handling of KPJ leading up to his brutal assault, the Rockets will likely be on pace for a 25-31 win season of slightly improved futility

Someone will have to take the fall, and fall guy #1 is gone.

Yes, i absolutely hope someone scrutinizes the Rockets handling of KPJ.

If it's as bad as @Nook and others have mentioned with multiple violent incidents being suppressed by the team, it needs to be exposed to the light of day, and the team needsto take remedial measures - and that's putting it mildly.

Isn't that obvious? Are you actually hoping they successfully pin the blame on John Lucas, Tilman has a presser where he filibusters about accountability and then he copters back to his yacht, and everyone pretends like all of the other stuff never happened?

The problem is nobody is as eager as you exposing a below mediocre franchise who is the laughing stock of the NBA.

What if KPJ in a hypothetical world where he was given up on much earlier and had some lengthy suspension where he was isolated from basketball activity and was away from support for a long stretch? The reality he'd probably do something like this sooner and just being an active part of a NBA roster was the only thing that kept his head above water.

Why do you think this incident happened in the off season? Almost all his very major incidents prior to this incident was times when he was away from his team for long stretches. Seems like a partner that says something? I don't know.


This isn't me saying that the solution here is coddling KPJ. I'm saying that there was no solution here and this is more than likely a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. In pretty sure if the Rockets didn't give KPJ these chances and he was completely removed from basketball the past year or so he'd probably have done something severe or even worse much earlier.

You're absolutely right in the age of hollowed out, access journalism and media sycophancy that it's harder to find someone who's willing to care, and of course, the Rockets house media boys Feigein and the Ikosystem, insert your own punchline..


....but "NBA player tries to kill WNBA player with bare hands in midtown Manhattan after allegedly trying to hit her with his car" is probably going to motivate someone to do some digging regardless of the rockets record. That's what true crime podcasting is about.

It's hindsight bias if KPJ had been a model citizen and this was adrunken assault that came out of nowhere. But,

But, what I've read here from @Nook , Jackson gatlin about his previously unreported incidents (in addition to the reported ones) is true, and the Rockets MGMT knew and just was willfully blind or covered it up - that's really really bad! And its seems highly unlikely to me that those guys know about them and Stone etc don't.

 

Is the reason you care about this is because it's just affiliated with the Rockets or is it because one more horrible dv case exists?

Because I'm telling you that KPJ more than likely has a severe incident like this earlier if the Rockets just let him go or suspended from team activities for the previous incidents.

So this is a matter of whether it's more important than he did this under the banner of the organization or just the part where he committed DV.

Both.... Personally I have been onto DV/SV/IPV since the Depp and Heard Case and a tad before.

So a narcissist/abuser has charm and will try lure in the public, that is going to happen.

And privately isolate you from the friends and fam who care about you.

 

I am sure he abused the trust of the Rockets and their fans.

He is a threat on so many levels - can score, shoot, rebound, pass and obviously attack people in their rooms.
