Uncle Bob is rich and old. If he wants to see the Texans win a Super Bowl before he's knocking on the pearly gates, he's going to have to upgrade the coaching staff. He can afford it.
What if there is no lockout and we have to suffer through another *****ty season? **** McNair for giving Kubiak an extension when he was already under contract for this year just because he didn't want him to be a "lame duck" coach. This situation could have easily been avoided.
He's also making money hand over fist on the team. It's one to be frugal with players, because there is the hard cap and you don't want to screw yourself by overpaying. But a top 3 franchise in terms of value should not be nickel and diming on coaching hires.
Aren't the Texans one of the most valuable sport franchises in the entire world, among all sports? Having to pay your bad coach so he will go away is the price of doing business.
This wouldn't matter to an owner who cared about winning John Gruden is an OFFENSIVE guy, just so you know And he should be the head coach
10th most valuable sports franchise in the world. I have never understood why spending money is even a question with this team
Would LOVE Gruden but have a feeling he is landing somewhere else. My choice would be Leslie Frazier, the DC for Minnesota. Guy knows defense and just needs an offensive mind to lead the offense, someone who may run a similar offense that doesn't require a whole new playbook.
Needs to be posted again: With Wade Phillips as the DC (both Cowher and Wade like the 3-4 defense) and we find a competent OC.
Wade Phillips is a pretty damn good DC. I wouldn't want him as a head coach, but he would be a great DC for this team.
There have been people who wanted Kubiak gone for 2 years now. I've always been a supporter of his, until last week. The loss to the Chargers basically ended any playoff chances we had, and this game only solidifies it. 5 seasons is more than long enough to see trends, and unmistakable trends have developed under Kubiak. 1.Fear of Running the ball in close games, if we don't have a lead he gets pass happy 2.Frequent slow starts, we often play better in the second half, but not good enough to overcome the hole we dug. 3.Consistently mediocre, and often terrible defenses. This is the scariest and most damning trend of them all. 4.Coming up short in big games, winning meaningless games late. In the last 3 years this team has gone 11-2 down the stretch. They only start winning once theres really nothing to play for. 09 started 5-7 effectively done, then went 4-0 08 started 3-7 effectively done, then went 5-1 07 started 5-7 effectively done, then went 3-1 I don't like ramming my head against a brick wall, i know the prospect of going backwards is scary, but it's time for a change.
