Yes, there is. And they beat us last year. However, they chickened out on playing us this year.. at least in a FAIR game.
Just got news today that my work is going to let us off that Friday the 23rd...I have my kids, however, there going to the b-ball and football game with me...I'll be the father in the stands with the whinny kids...j/k...
This is why no one takes Cougar football seriously. They play in a minor league conference and can't even hang with the Big 12's leftovers. Coog football is like AA baseball.
Well, that blowout concedes my UH pompoms to go back in the closet. I might as well join in that closet and never come out until UH gets the 2nd coming of Vince Young, because they completely suck.
Well, this motto certainly makes it look like our fans completely suck. Fun game, had a blast there, Kansas folk are nice! Game really should have been closer than it was, dropped passes and poor tackling sealed the deal late. Go Coogs!
Here are the records for the past 20 years. Other than the 1988-1990 years, this team has had 4 winning seasons - everyone of them barely over .500. The rankings are horrible for the other 13 seasons. Whoever is hiring the recruiting for UH needs to be fired.
Seriously. Somebody at UH needs to learn how to sign a damn check! At least they're a classic Houston team in that they'll do just well enough to spark hope before crashing and burning spectacularly.
Yeah, I'm well aware of the past records. Go ahead and stop being a UH fan again, I'll send you a PM whenever we're worthy enough of your fan support. And I seriously doubt the problem is recruiting. We're just fishing from a different pond than BCS schools, which goes back to the fundamental problem with the exclusionary BCS system. The main problem we have, and it should be obvious by this third years end, is coaching discipline. Our coach is still making rookie mistakes in play calling and in defensive scheming. We can't score in the red zone and we can't tackle anybody. Both pretty fundamental things. Oh well, it took a guy named Bill Yeoman five years to even get UH to a bowl game.. and he had an OK career Oh, and while we're digging through the archives.. Kansas 1995 - (10-2, 5-2 Big 8) 1996 - (4-7, 2-6 Big 12) 1997 - (5-6, 3-5 Big 12) 1998 - (4-7, 1-7 Big 12) 1999 - (5-7, 3-5 Big 12) 2000 - (4-7, 2-6 Big 12) 2001 - (3-8, 1-7 Big 12) 2002 - (2-10, 0-8 Big 12) 2003 - (6-7, 3-5 Big 12) 2004 - (4-7, 2-6 Big 12) Kansas had ONE winning season in a decade.. yet their fans showed up in larger numbers than ours, even though we were twice as close to Ft. Worth as Kansas is.. too bad the website I found only went back to 1995, I'm sure their 20 year record is just as bad, if not worse, than UH. Wonder how many KU fans tossed their Jayhawk gear in the closet for good after the 2003. Not many it would seem.
Don't worry about me being a fan of UH or needing to hear of your precious PMs . Even though I went there, I wasn't fond of their crappy football teams. And who is more of a known school among national teams....Kansas or UH? Even if Kansas had crappy records throughout the past 30-40 years, they are still shown as a sports contender compared to UH. Even in Texas, UH is like the bottom of the craphole when it comes to college sports (except for baseball and now basketball - well, I guess that leaves football... ). In Dallas, I don't hear crap about UH up here. You can keep cheering them on all you want. It's going to be a while when it will actually count.
I'm not totally sure you caught the point of my post. Teams can have poor stretches and still maintain fan support. UH is a prime example of school that cannot do that, because of many varying reasons, some they can control, but most of which they cannot. A fan such as yourself, shouldn't get so discouraged so easily. Maybe you just have higher expectations, but I see progress.
No, I caught your point. I'm surprised you have had the patience for progress in the past 20 years. After we had our 5th ranking nationally in 1990, this team has had so many chances to have a good recruiting class come in and create a great squad. The management, coaches, etc. have failed time and time again. What progress have they fulfilled? Getting into crappy bowl games with crappy records and playing crappy teams. What an accomplishment... You mention this....but for it to happen on and off for the past 20+ years is ridiculous. Maybe for UH basketball and UH baseball. But for football, it's going to be a long time before I'm going to give an inkling of fan support.
