You only do this if you are getting a star PF. Between Scola/Patterson/DMo, we've invested enough money and picks into PF to expect reasonable production. What we don't have are long term solutions at SF and Center....those are what need to be addressed.
Anthony Davis is a no-brainer. Andre Drummond as well. Not 100% sure on Sullinger. Moultrie would be likely more as an option at center. But all those guys would be playing on cheap, rookie scale contracts. Guys like Humphries or Gibson are not significant upgrades to Patterson (or Moti, if he's as-advertised). Morey won't commit salary to unrestricted free agents like Hump unless they are clear and significant upgrades AND viewed as pieces to a championship puzzle. It's just unwise cap management.
You guys realize he's putting up these numbers on a garbage team, right? He's not really all that great. I guess I'd trade Scola for him because of his youth and the fact that he'd hopefully end up being a better contract...
That's the thing, we could easily trade Scola and/or Patterson in some of the deals that are out there. The only person or asset on the team that is close untouchable: Kyle Lowry. After trading deadline, we could easily be thin at power forward, especially since every trade rumor, along with the actual (yet cancelled) trade near the beginning of the season has involved Scola in some shape or form. Again, going into next year with only Patterson and Motiejunas, our power forward position could be as suspect as we are at SF or C.
I mostly talking about deadline trades with Humphries and Gibson with expiring salaries in case that is likely. I wouldn't see them signing here as free agents, necessarily. Moultrie at center is a possibility, especially if he fills out, but it's not set in stone. Though, he could be more of tweener, but his greatest strengths may not necessarily be at playing center, sort of like Horford in Atlanta. If Moultrie came to Houston, by chance, and ended up playing, next to Dalembert or a free agent center. He would be more suited for power forward.
Dude such an easy scapegoat to use on the garbage team.....but the PF position is the most dominated position in the NBA besides the PG position....so he goes up against every team best PF every night and to have those numbers is awesome
I'd trade Scola, Bud and Hill for him. He's 8 mill exp and scola's contract doesn't look so good anymore.
Not according to what Woj tweeted this afternoon. Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA Close Y! Sources: Whatever the Magic do at trade deadline, Dwight Howard's still determined to sign with the Nets in July.
lol. this news came out right after I posted that. It's pretty shocking and i admit I was dead wrong.
The problem here is getting Khump costs coin, around 9M. You could have spent that 9M on a position you DO need, instead of wasting it on yet another PF.
Please! Quick! Someone tell me what the point is of trading for Kris Humphries (who i really like btw) unless it's to dump salary. He's a free agent! and i don't care about this year...
he has what no one on the Rockets have. ferociousness. that's something that you can't teach, it's a priceless asset. we should go for him, no doubt. double double machine thus far, and he is still young.
