I agree. For as horrible a year it was for Brown, he has more than enough leg. At this point it's mental and if he can get that squared away then he could be fine. That being said, the Texans have to bring some one in to at the very least push him

And even though some people were whispering that it was "mental", they were able to blame it on the fact that Heinz field is a pretty difficult place to kick (even though his replacement didn't have as much problems as he had).

Thus, he came to the Texans with a clean slate (and perfect conditions for kicking), and was money.

Now, how is he supposed to get over this? There's no Heinz field cop-out. This team is going to be playing in more important/meaningful games as it continues to improve, and the ONE thing you cannot have is a kicker with mental issues.

Just like in baseball, good closers are vital for good teams, luxuries on mediocre teams. The Texans are a good team... they need a reliable and dependable kicker now more than ever.

I don't care how money he was before, or how good his leg is... once you lose the mental aspect, you're done.

You said it yourself, he had a horrible year in pittsburgh, but came back fine after that. kickers will occasionally go through years like these and be fine. This being said it doesn't give him a free pass nor should they make it easy for him to retain his job

Yea, but don't underestimate the "change in environment" issue. That does WONDERS for all mental issues.

What doesn't cure mental issues is staying the course in the same place, with the same holder, with the same stadium, and with the same important close games/opponents.

Kris Brown should not be here next year. Plenty of other kickers out there that could fill his role.

To be fair, that was also the first season in Heinz Stadium. I'd be willing to bet all kickers in that stadium that year were pretty terrible. The winds were vicious.

Did the wind patterns in Pittsburgh change after Kris Brown left? Because kickers have been much better there since he left.

If we keep him and make the playoffs next year just be prepared for the inevitable ass raping in the playoffs, that's all I'm saying.

Fair enough, I'm not saying he should def stay, but it is more than possible he turns it around here. I'm just as pissed as anyone at him at the moment

Texans need to rid themselves of all proven mental midgets; Kris Brown has proven himself just that, therefore, it's goodbye.

Nick Folk with the Cowboys was straight money and won a lot of games with FGs of 50 yards of more and missed only like 2 or 3 in two years, but this year he was awful. I bet if he would have stayed in the cowboys he would have missed more FGs than Kris Brown.

And look Vanderjagt he was soo money with the Colts, and were cut, then Dallas picked him and he was not good.

So Kris Brown has to go, his time in the texans is over.

I think that we need to have real competition in training camp next year. Bring in somebody to compete for the spot. If Brown can turn it around, he will have to show it in camp.
