Houston has a butt load of Tejano stations, or Hispanic Stations. Houston radio is either Country, or Spanish. To fix Houston radio, I think we need another sports radio show. I think a ClearChannel station shoul switch formats. We need another buzz like station, and a good, decent rap station. The DJs on Party 104 are annoying. I remember when 97.1 was new, they played the same dr dre f/ eminem , and dmx up in here every 90 minutes. Here is a better idea. the FCC needs to change rules about the consolidation of radio stations, so they do not homngenize a radio market. Stupid Bill Clinton, damn you.
Kam, as far as a new station like The Buzz, I am all for that. More options for Rock on the dial. Rock 101 is ok, but I still like 94.5 much better. 101 tends to play alot of crap. But Houston is lucky, most towns only have 1 rock station, we have two in 94.5 and 101.1.
I don't know if y'all have ever heard 101.5 in Austin, but that is the exact model that a new Houston station needs to follow. It's similar to the buzz, but plays more non-mainstream rock and leaves out all the outdated crap the buzz still plays like Pearl Jam. Who the hell still listens to or likes that band? I swear, if I hear Even Flow one more time....
Oh, I understand about demographics. I was just referring to what some of the earlier posts were mentioning. The wide range of coverage of 'Top 40', without concern for genre. I honestly am not aware if this is a regular practice for 'Top 40' stations. I also know about 'switching the channel', though I don't have to do it anyway, since I'm not listening in the first place.
Yeah, that is true. I like the fact that they'll play all types of Tool that aren't normally heard on air..but it's still put out by a radio company cloned after clear channel, so it's music has deep roots in money. A good one to listen to that has nothing to do with anything but music is KOOP and that other one that it shares time with.
