I don't think anyone is saying that the way he reacted was the best way to go about handling a heckler. I think it was a situation where he blew up and used all the worst things he could think of to hurt the person. Calling them pricks and assholes was probably not enough, in his mind, to piss them off. And not knowing anything else about the hecklers he went with the racial stuff. If you really wanted to push someone's buttons, especially a black person, those are pretty much the exact words and images you would conjure up. I don't know if he is racist or not but I think all those words were more fueled by anger and the desire to verbally hurt the hecklers than anything else.
Nah, it was just that you pretty much said what everyone else already had and seemed to over do it with the "cowardice" and "bravery" stuff at the end. But whatever, none of this is that important. It's just a sad situation for the people who were offended and for Richards, as well.
I laughed cause Richards used Afro-American instead of African-American or black. Do people still use Afro-American?
The sure fire thing to do to get under someone's skin, is to slurr their ethnicity. That ammo will hurt and anger the vast majority of people, no matter the race. It's the easiest thing to blurt out in retaliation, which is probably why he did it. Racist or not, he shouldn't have stooped to that level.
You have to be kidding me. Tons of non-nerdy types love Seinfeld. It's not your typical FOX T&A show or one of the 50 versions of CSI - there was and is no other show like it. It had subtle humor that was hysterical. It's possibly one of the 3 or 4 greatest sitcoms ever. And if you don't like it you suck. So there.
You assume all hecklers shut up after they are made fools of, this is not the case. Some people go to comedy clubs just to be disruptive therefore no matter how clever or humilating the riff ends up being, if the club doesn't remove the patron from the building they could ruin the show. I have been in fist fights with hecklers. Contrary to popular belief, clever banter does not always remedy the problem.
Man... That is sad. Kramer was my second favorite character behind George on Seinfeld. It will never be the same after watching that video, forever tainted.
I'd be interested to see the economic impact these comments have on syndication and DVD sales. I could see Seinfeld re-runs turning into after midnight or mid-day programming, as opposed to the 5-7, 10-12 pm slots you generally see for the highest-rated syndicated programming: especially if affiliates try to lowball the distributor, and create a contract impasse that results in the shows being dropped altogether for a brief time. Probably not a bad opportunity for higher-rated Reality TV shows to get into syndication, even though those probably have less of a half-life than fictional shows. Maybe the HBO/Showtime shows like Sopranos or Curbed can fill the spot.
big deal. Washed up girls try to gain public interest by putting out sex tapes, Kramer calls someone a ******.
this **** is obviously a big facking deal. he did more than just call some black men ******s, he said those blackmen woulda been hung with a fork up their asses. KKKramer is a racist facker. you just dont go out a call a black man a ******, then say we would be dead 50 years ago. thats a form of disrespect, and being racist. if michael richards called me a ******, i would have kicked his b**** ass, looked for his ancestor's graves, and urinate on those punk b****es.
