Wow. Are you a Rockets fan or what? I thought Rocket fans were glad Embid fouled KPJ at the closing of the game. Yeah he missed one but made the other. And yes, I would've had KPJ take the last shot since he made the gamen winning shot against the Wizards last yr and has shown in the past he can hit last second shots. I thought it was a good move. Aren't you glad we won?
Here's the quote by Doc Rivers that DD is referring to. Really nice to hear on a human level. And here's KPJ talking about Harden being his idol. Still not sure about his overall fit, but I'm starting to root for this guy.
Now, do you trust the assessment of a NBA Championship coach Ooooor a bunch of haters on Clutchfans?? I say NBA Championship Coach
straw man argument. Where did I say I wasn’t happy with the win? I obviously watched the game. JVG used to use a phrase (not his original quote) - Never accept in victory what you would not accept in defeat. KPJ drove directly into the teeth of the defense and was bailed out by Embiid. I was frustrated with his decision making for the possession; but, Yes - I was happy that he got to the free throw line. Then I was frustrated he couldn’t hit both free throws to ice the game. Care to recall how many points he scored in the 4th?????? and the picture is Bubbles. Look it up.
You seem to be objective based upon your post but I'm curious, why do you question his fit? I think him and Green are forming well as a tandem. They're reminding me of Billups and Hamilton when they were in Detriot. Neither was a true PG but they feed off each other. Billups was the better ball handler and playmaker and RIP the better score.
No Rocket player played well in the 4th. Silas put Sengun back in the game to generate offense but that didn't work. They played good defense and continue to drive to the basket to draw fouls.
My point EXACTLY! You're finally getting the picture. You don't have to be true PG to win a Championship.
Neither was Ron Harper, Jon Paxston or Steve Kerr and you can make a case that Curry is not a true PG too. He's more of a tweener.
I like his D, stays strong on the top and always helps at the hole. Great length puts pressure against positions 1-3
If by stay strong you mean, lets people go straight past him regularly, then yeah. He's a rock up the top.
Yeah, quitting at halftime, crying to the refs when he doesn't get a call and stopping at the spot he shot one of his terrible jumpers certainly indicates he's a good defensive player. He sucks as a starter. Talk to me when he's a 6th man.
How about you stop talking until he is a 6th man.....right now he is a starter, and a danged fine one at that. DD
I wouldn't say I'm objective. Though I'm trying to keep my expectations appropriate to the level of a rebuilding team. As for KPJ's fit, as others have pointed out, he doesn't seem to have the natural playmaking instincts of a point guard. I haven't seen a high ability to see the floor and dictate the pace from Porter. That said, he's definitely getting better through practice and repetition, and more familiarity with his teammates. Plus, he plays hard and with intensity and seems very invested in what the team's trying to do. So, who knows, he may actually get to the level that the team needs two, three years down the road. And personally, I don't see the comparison of KPJ and Green to Billups and Hamilton. Billups was a playmaker in the PG mold, while Hamilton was a sharp shooter who was effective off the ball. Neither KPJ nor Green currently has these qualities as their main strengths, IMO.
No, how about I continue to say where he should play. You can be a fan but he isn't good. You just don't want to be wrong (unless you're getting paid and then I understand why you help him out)
lol no one on a fan forum is helping anyone out. He's a starter and a possible all-star in the right system. He along with everyone on this team has a lot of work to do on the Defensive end, specifically against motion offense teams. He played some great D in Iso situations at times. He seems to actively be trying to take a leadership role, and was communicating much more these last few weeks then he did before, even if there is some frustration moments that we see come out of him. We can criticize the bad but need to acknowledge the improvements too.
Something wrong when a 4th year vet is being compared to a 2nd yr player like they are supposed to b equals. The expectation for kpj should b higher
I honestly haven't seen any improvement. He's the same player. He doesn't see the floor, isos way you much, dribbles the air out of the ball ect.... he's not a good NBA player ( he's unfortunately good here)
