There is an ENORMOUS difference between KPJ, a snotty nosed scatter shot guard who has been thrown off a college and pro team for punk behavior, and the Dream. Dream had led the Rockets to the Finals in his second year (The Rockets beat the Showtime Lakers 4-1 in a series & Dream got to the Finals before Jordan did) and had endured the ineptitude of the Rockets organization. Go look at the Rockets rosters after the Finals trip in 86 (from 87-92), pair that with him being massively underpaid and ask yourself why Dream was pissed. Ironically, assistant John Lucas's, Lew Lloyd (RIP) , and Mitchell Wiggins drug suspensions had a ton to do with the product falling off but the team declined fast and never recovered.

Sampson was injured and traded. The Rockets were putting crap around Dream and wasn't paying a true NBA SUPERSTAR! Hell, ALL of the stars of TODAY would have tried to force their way out. The Rockets organization FINALLY pulled their heads out of their behinds in the nick of time by smoothing things over with Dream, adding the right pieces and winning it all. But this was on the Rockets organization, hell they should have publicly apologized to Dream ( for Derrick Cheivous, old ass Purvis Short, Winston Garland, Steve Harris & Buck Johnson) LOL!!!

Sorry but I can't compare Dream's situation to KPJ's (who hasn't done squat in the NBA) , that's a bridge too far.

Dream was a hothead, frequently got into fights in both practice and games - until he rediscovered his faith.

I am not comparing them as players only as young guys who are hot headed - hell, Barkley threw a fan through a plate glass window. Horry threw a towel into Ainge's face. MJ punched SEVERAL teamates.....

The difference is that today we have Social media - and a bunch of Gladys Crabbitz wannabes running around judging personal issues like they have a ****ing clue, when they should mind their own house.

Well, times changed for you as well.

We all have to learn to live with Crabbitz wannabes that do not mind their own ‘Danuel house' as you gracefully put it.

I hear ya, but it was a very different NBA back then. Yeah Dream had a temper, but you had to be very physical back then or you'd get bullied and things often boiled over. KPJ comes from this entitled AAU culture, where if everyone doesn't tell you you're great (every 5 seconds) then you're disrespecting them or "hating".
Plus, Dream was swinging on tough, hard nosed & physically trained professional NBA athletes. KPJ has challenged a GM and a 60 year old assistant coach. It would be easier to see the comparison (as a hot head ) if KPJ was physically challenging other NBA players. We can agree to disagree but KPJ gives a serious punk/coward vibe in my opinion. And I have no idea how the Rockets could possibly extend this guy with a substantial long term deal which would just validate his historically poor behavior.

I wouldn't call his defense close to "elite." He is probably one of our best defenders right now. But that doesn't say much given our piss poor defense through out the whole team. But I get your point. Defense is not his problem at this point.

If KPJ can play like he did yesterday 3/4 games then he can be looked at as a potential part of this team's future.

Still not buying it but it's better than nothing at this point. 0-1 turnovers is all I really want to see.

0 - 1 TOV is an unreasonable expectation. Chris Paul averages 2.3.

That would be ideal if Porter could handle being moved away from “point guard”

I like KPJ so much I’m willing to ride with him until end of next season but think having three above average facilitators at three different positions would put us above most teams once the kids grow up. We don’t need a CP3 point gawd if we have that much versatility and talent

I don't care what people say - only what the org says....people like to b****, myself included, but I don't matter, just a fan, neither does anyone else.....so I am good with that.

As for extending him? Man the jury is still WAY out on that - he needs to be consistent and a great citizen the rest of the way.....or he only hurts himself as his contract is cheap....

    :)

    LMFAO.

Yeah, i'll continue going on my way to dislike someone who repeatedly throws things at people and chucks tantrums when he doesn't get his way.

I'll sleep at night pretty easy knowing that doesn't make me a terrible person hahahahahaha.

I cannot wait for the day KPJ doesn't suit up in a Rockets uniform. It's going to be delicious.

Oops. Guess I have no heart hey.

The amount of people who think hatred and respect are the same thing is too damn high. See a previous post where I pointed out how this isn't true.

Yawn. This is getting tedious now.

Tilman really cratered the franchise so much we got some fawning over a toddler. Yikes. I knew he was bringing the Rockets down, didn't realise that much.

I cannot wait until this guy is off the team. Boo hoo me have no heart I musn't respect anyone. Sheesh. Better tell all those people that *insert everything I've done in life that don't need to justify to people here* I'm a bad bad man.

At least I can sleep at night knowing I won't throw things at anyone when things don't go my way.

In rebuilding, this was the kind of thing I was interested in... Seeing which of these young players develop in ways that will lead to contending again in the future. Hitting game-winners and making big shots in close regular season games is a lot different than doing it in the playoffs, obviously. But you have to start somewhere. Porter has some quality about his on-the-court personality and makeup that makes me think he won’t shy away from big moments in the playoffs.

Just need closer games and fewer blowouts. It’s so simple!

I propose we rename this thread: “Weird Virtue Signaling by Downtown Sniper”

By virtue signaling, I mean hating a 21 year old with the deck stacked against him. I reckon Downtown Sniper might throw some **** too If he had a Father like KPJ did.
