I think that bench will be the push that makes us a winning team the next couple years

The fact that you take a stat like "KPj is the 14th most doubled player in the league" and assume that means he's the 14th most terrifying player in the league for opposing defenses is pretty much all that needs to be said about your analysis of basketball players. I can probably name 50 players off the top of my head that are more troubling and require genuine double teams more than Bench Honcho. The stat you're referring to is a blown exaggeration that applies more towards ball dominant players that run into walls in the paint (i.e. the double team you're referring to) and have to pass it out, usually at the end of a shot clock resulting in an awful shot for one of their teammates. FVV is actually ahead of KPj in that same list.

Just so you know how stupid that statistic is, Nikola Jokic and Domantas Sabonis aren't even on the ****ing list.

Yup. I'm confident Green and Sengun attract more preplanned doubles rather than make shift doubles that happen in the spur of the moment like help defense or KPJ walking into two talking defenders from a zone defense.

Along with a much improved starting unit, and a solid coaching staff, they should be much better no doubt.

Lol I never said he was the 14th most terrifying player in the league. Calm your ass down

I know it’s most likely from running into walls in the paint. That’s because ain’t nobody worried on guarding Jalen, Jabari, or sengun cause they can’t shoot.

I think most the stats thrown down here are exaggerated because we were a team intentionally tanking

I'm clean slating the Rockets this year as far as I'm concerned. I think KPj is going to likely start on the bench and have little hope for him becoming a serviceable NBA player. But if he can get into a role where he can showcase his abilities and help the team win, I'm all for it. I think him, Amen and Tari in the reserve unit could be a nightmare for opposing bench units.

If Ime says "you know what, KPj is starting" I'd be cool with that too. I don't think that'll be the case but if it happens then I'll embrace it because the guy knows what he's doing. Even our Summer League team looked good. My eyebrow is raised on both of our flawed SGs right now. Jalen for his defense and KPj for his mentality. We'll see.

No shot a talented player like kpj isn't even considered a serviceable nba player. He's a sht pg but man is talented enough to play for our team

Between him or Tari, one of those young men is hoisting the 6th man of the year trophy

When Dillon Brooks becomes "Clutchfans favorite whipping boy", can we lock this thread?

This has been my feelings towards KPJ so far:
    1. intrigued, especially for the price of nothing during a tear-down rebuild
    2. excited to see him develop. Impressed with his body movement and body control.
    3. annoyed with his play style, but not sure how much of that was Silas and how much of that was him
    4. Very annoying with his play style recognizing that Silas provided the freedom for him to play that way, but also it was his decision to draw-out plays
    5. OK trade him and Christian Wood
    6. Yeah, we play a better brand of basketball without him, even if he is one of our "better" players
    7. (Now) Excited to see how he plays under Ime without the expectation of being a point guard. If he can play with the mentality of "pass, shoot, or drive" right away then he can be a dangerous sixth man for us. I never thought he lacked skill or passion for the game, but he definitely lacked a feel for the game at a team level. With Ime I am not saying he will magically fix KPJ's drawn out play style, but I do think if he buys in he can be a really good player for us.

KPjr is, at minimum, a solid starting 2 guard in the NBA. His very reachable upside is All Star.

KPJ has the skills of a boderline all-star, but still has a lot to learn about winning basketball. Fortunately Ime preaches a winning brand of basketball.

Playing out of position has distorted his value, as well as hiis ability to fit into a team concept. (playing off ball more) I see him thriving under Ime...on both sides of the ball. KPJ's gonna realize a lot of that defensive potential under Udoka.

    I don't disagree at all.

I appreciate you throughout these last 3 years btw. You've been a true die-hard Rockets fan.

    Go Rockets!
