And this is also why "let's just move KPJ to an off-ball role/to 6th man" will never work (although skills-wise, it would make sense).

Dollar Store Harden thinks he is the head honcho. He thinks he should shoot the technical free throws - although the facts/stats are clear, he is one of the worse free throw shooters on the team.

The fact that Silas allows this shows that Silas is either a pushover or an idiot, or both.

The offense looks better playing literally without a PG than it does with Porter pretending to be one. The Rockets could add some mediocre game manager PG and the offense would take off.

He's gonna come back and immediately take over again and set the team back. It's shows what a joke the Rockets are now that they continue to let this happen instead of forcing him to accept the bench scorer role he's destined for.

Rockets could add an old Ricky Rubio, and I think they would be much better than with KPJ

now imagine if they added a dynamic scorer-playmaker who actually knew how to run a team

KPJ can’t even recognize simple things like who has the hot hand

The aesthetic results since Satan Jr has been out = 3 complete destructions, a close loss to the pathetic Lakers, another close loss to the OTHER "worst team in the NBA" and finally a game where Jalen put the team on his back to a win after being disrespected by most of the fanbase.

Keep stacking those moral victories! Last year those were brushed off as "padded stats on garbage teams dont count" -- go figure!

He does recognize it, he resents it, and he wants to make sure to freeze them out. It's because he has a low IQ and a leopard cannot change its spots.

We would be better with DJ Augustin bringing up the ball and handing it to Alpi than with KPJ hogging it for 2/3s of the shot clock.

The results before KPJ was out: 9 straight losses against good, bad and bottom dwelling teams.

Just because the offense running through Sengun has been better doesn't mean this team is better without KPJ, that's only one small part of the picture. Yall gotta realize even if you hate KPJ, surely you don't think he's worse than Josh Christopher? Or Tyty? You can't just make KPJ vanish and have everything else stay the same, those minutes have to go somewhere. And right now they're going to players who are much worse than him. I think the best thing for this team would be to keep playing this way after he comes back, but even going back to the way we were playing before would produce more wins than having him out. I don't think KPJ is as bad as most of yall, but even if I did, he's still a lot better than his alternatives, and that makes him a positive.

KPJ is on the court doing active and purposeful sabotage to anyone who might be a threat to his status as head honcho?

There's only one basketball, and if the player with the basketball is making bad choices he is a negative, even if he has more ability than his replacement.

The Rockets won't play like they have been playing on offense when he comes back, and that's the problem. Porter "always" wants his shots, and he will get them regardless of matchup or teammate performance.

Exactly, yes. This team doesn’t need Green, KPJ or Nix or any other guard to be a point guard. You just need them to bring the ball up and take care of the ball. You have Sengun, the best passer and decision maker on the team. And you have two potentially good finishers in Green/KPJ. I don’t know why this is taking so long lol.

Wow, so if bad teams make shots more often, they win more games and become better teams?

Why is nobody aware of this?

Sure, but I still think Josh Christopher and Tyty have a far greater negative impact than KPJ, even with the significantly lower usage. Especially in the minutes where Green and Sengun are both on the bench, the team is a complete disaster. I personally don't think KPJ is a negative impact player. Maybe you're right about him, maybe he's not capable of playing differently, I'd like to think that he is. I think that's more of a Silas thing anyway. But regardless, having him in the lineup improves the team. The other guards are just so so so bad.

All about him accepting a more beneficial role for himself and the team. I agree, a more off the ball, catch and shoot or catch and attack KPJ is better for the team. He clearly has more talent than the guards on our bench. He’s still top 12 in the entire league in time of possession and I don’t think that needs to be the case even if he is our “best ball handler”.

A lot of speculation as to whether he will accept a lesser role or not. I’m not ready to declare without hesitation that he will refuse, but I’d like to see it.

Yeah that's what I'd like to see. But regardless, even if everything goes back to what it was pre-injury, that's still a better team that what we have right now, regardless of how anyone feels about the aesthetics.

No, because KPJ's usage goes to Alpi and Jalen. And that's better for the team.

KPJ is 11th in the NBA in time of possession of the ball. It takes everyone else out of their rhythm and game. And he takes tons of bad shots. He is a selfish player.

I really wish he could play off ball or as a 6th man.

I think his ego and lack of IQ are in the way of that.

A few things would have to happen for that:

    1) The coaching staff would have to make clear that this is what needs to happen. They would have to establish a clear pecking order: Alperen Sengun is the head honcho most of the time. He becomes the main facilitator. Jalen and Jabari and Alpi get most of the shots - KPJ can get a lot of catch-and-shoot opportunities still if he buys in, but doesn't control possession anymore like he has been doing. Silas is actively resisting that. Many/most of us have been asking for it for over a year, and Silas undermined Alpi and propped up KPJ wherever he could. If KPJ had not gotten hurt, he would have never even tried it.

    2) KPJ would have to accept it.

    3) Even if he rationally wanted to accept it (unlikely, see above), he would have to change the way he always played. He would have to make a conscious effort to change his game. He would have to learn to defer. He would have to force himself to not make the ball sticky and dribble dribble dribble.

    4) If he doesn't stop playing the way he has been, he would have to be yanked/disciplined. The coaching staff would have to enforce playing the right way - Alpi as main facilitator, Jalen with most shots.

Each one of those 4 things is unlikely by itself. All 4 of them happening is EXTREMELY unlikely.

And that's why we should move KPJ off this team as soon as possible.
