KPJ: Can someone explain to me why he has become Clutchfans favorite whipping boy?

DD can speak for himself but on the premise, he's correct! Stats are inputted by humans, so its flawed from the start.

For example, tell me how KPJ had 22 pts, 9 assist, 0 turnovers and he was -10?

 

Stats aren't flawed, interpretations are.

 

Well, the 22 points, 9 assists, and 0 turnovers were all individual stats, the -18 is a team stat.

KPJ had a pretty good game individually while the team caught a beating, that's how you get those kinds of numbers. The entire team was in the negative.

 

Dude why do you keep ignoring how bad he was, I already posted the numbers that prove you wrong.

He never shot over 40% until his 5th year, KPJ has already done that.

Billups never shot over 43% until his 9th year.

He was worse than KPJ for a lot of years.

Exactly, so from a SOF perspective, who is already hating on KPJ looks at the +/-, the first thing they say is KPJ is a negative. When we all saw he had a nice game.

That's why I lean more towards the eye test, because stats dont tell everything

 

Because those numbers are irrelevant. Efficiency is what matters, look at true shooting relative to the league, TS+

billups was above league average every year except his rookie year (still better then every kpj season) except the year he was out to injury. Kpj’s best was his rookie year at 5% below league average

 

But the stats also show us that he had a nice game. They agree with your eye test, they don't contradict it.

Advanced stats that use algorithms to weight inputs are seriously flawed.....like PER for instance.

Uh? He is not a point guard at all. Just because he had two games with more assist than turnovers he should be voted to be all star. The guy is playing scared because he knows when Harden is signed or Scooter Henderson is drafted he can only be our 6th Man

 

He is the starting PG of the Rockets, therefore he is a PG.

I have noticed a pattern. Those who fight against stats the most also have a really hard time interpreting them.

 

Not really, as I said stats are about 30% of the story, it is morons who think it is 100% that are the problem.

Nah it depends on who is using them and why. If you listen to this board a lot of people will have you thinking KPJ is in Ja Morants league and they have stats to back it up. Stats can be corrupted, Ive seen it all over twitter. You can cherry pick a persons stats to death and you can focus on a couple of games and ignore all context till they say what you want them to say.
