KPJ: Can someone explain to me why he has become Clutchfans favorite whipping boy?

Over the last 4 years, he has made small but noticeable improvements on and off the court.

Let's remember though that Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun are in year 2, and are not being featured like KPJ is. Stephen Silas has made him his defacto Luka Doncic, and KPJ SHOULD be putting up ridiculous stats with that usage.

You may see me post that Sengun will have trouble vs the successful
playoff teams that can go small.

Boston fronted Sengun in the post and often played Marcus Smart vs
Sengun. Horford forces the Rockets to play Sengun on the perimeter
which can be a liability.

If you look at game highlights you will see players fronting Sengun in the post,
3 Boston defenders defending our PnR closely, Marcus Smart going by Sengun
defending him on the perimeter very easily.

Just not a good matchup vs a team that can put 5 three point shooters
on the court. Basketball is not just about offense.

 

Jalen Green has been more efficient than KPJ for one and a half seasons by now which is Green 's entire career.

 

KPJ down to 5th in turnovers between Morant and Harden at 3.7per game.

He's definitely showing improvement now in his playmaking duties.

 

KPj after 33 games has a TOV% of 17.1%
KPj after 33 games in 21/22 had a TOV% of 21.5% (finished at 17.7%)

I projected him at or near 14% (around 49 games remaining)

KPJ isn't even top 50 in usage rate. Enough with the hyperbole.

This season KPJ has been the more efficient scorer thus far.... as well as the better player across the board.

Who knows what the future holds, but it's just a terrible time to try and push those narratives.

 

Seems from the interview that Silas blames it more on the guards not being able to make good entry passes into the post, called it a "lost art."

 

KPJ does lead the nba in one stat total turnovers.

Fronting him shouldnt be an issue, if you have someone who can get him the correct pass its an easy layup.

 

Eh. There is a difference between usage rate and time of possession with the ball. KPJ for the season has similar time of possession with the ball as heliocentric guys like Luka.

Usage rate really doesn't tell you how much someone has the ball in their hands.

For example, Green's usage rate is high but his time of possession is really low causing a odd situation where even though he isn't scoring efficiently this season is like top 10 in the NBA in pts per time of possession.

You all keep saying yr 4 but it's actually going into his 2yr of playing PG full time AND with a team full of 1st and 2nd yr players.

For instance he scored 22 pts, 9 assist, 0 turnovers but he was a -10!! And he was a negative 10 because of the other players
