texxx, I don't understand how or why you got up yesterday morning and decided "I'm going to start korean baiting on clutchfans for no apparent reason".

I agree that, with recent big moves of firms like Samsung and LG to become industry leaders, equalling or surpassing many of their Japanese counterparts in certain fields, Korean posters will become more prominent on clutchfans, though unless Ha Seung Jin is in rocket red next season it won't be for a while.

Anyway I just think right now your target audience is too small to really allow you the full-scale war for which you spoil. Is it because your attempts to penetrate the Chinese market have largely been a flop so far? And who is next on the hit-list?

For the better part of the last 50 years, most Koreans have been taught to read/write in English, let alone the many students are literate in Chinese and Japanese.

This mixed race discrimination was really bad throughout the 60s,70s, and 80s, but recently it has started to become commonplace. Many of new pop icons in Korea are of mixed decent.

As far as an underlying assumption that some believe that Westerners are better. It's true. Theres a reason little girls all over East Asia are jealous of their friends if they have creased eyes. Many go as far as taping their eyelids open to manufacture creases.

As far as the Asian fetish that you describe. I believe it to be true on the Westerners part. However, for a Korean family, it is more out of disgust at the dishonor of the marriage than the idea of their daughter being used for "easy sex." More about honor and money than anything else.

Sam, I was moved to start this thread after reading about Hines Ward's trip to Korea. I was unaware that he was half Korean, so I read on, only to find out about Korea's racism. I'm not sure what you're talking about with respect to "baiting". I seek discussion, not to bait.

No matter what slant from you're looking at it, it's still damn unfair to include their children in that line of thinking.

Since we're talking about Korea, seems like a good time to post the infamous CHUNG IS KING email.

real mature brah. Somebody usually retorts with something of this nature, but I'll remind you that I've worked in 7 countries (and visited a hell of a lot more than that...) and speak 3 languages, so perhaps it is you that needs to get out more.

Since I'm Korean, I can put some perspective into this topic. First of all, I'm glad Hines Ward decided to come to Korea to not only to discover his heritage, but to open up a discussion on the racism towards Bi-racial children in Korea.

Is Korea racist to some degree? Yes, but so is the United States. The article mentions the racism Hines Ward faced in AMERICA, not in Korea so get your facts straight. Personally, I think it’s unfair to point to Korea and say "What a racist country Korea is" when in America you have a ton of problems too. Korea is a very homogenous country, so just like in many European countries, stereotypes abound about different races.

Unlike Europe and America, racial integration is non-existent in the country. So in a way, while I don't excuse the racism in Korea, you can't blame Koreans for thinking certain things while watching Hollywood movies and watching news about a certain President of the United States. And BTW, not all Koreans are racist, just like not all Americans are racist and so on...The climate in Korea is starting to change, and diversity and multiculturalism is starting to take root in the country.

Interracial marriages are increasing and it's not just Asian woman who are doing it. Many Korean men are starting to marry outside of their race including many Americans and Europeans. They are also an increase in the number of intra-Asian marriages as well. So, just like America during the 60s, Korea is starting to change as well. I'm all for the changes, but I hope that Korea doesn't become like America and start accepting the liberal message of multiculturalism that is balkanizing our country.

To add the comments I made above, the reason many Koreans don't like bi-racial children is because the association with American GI's and Korean woman. Although many Korean's appreciate the sacrifices that many American soldiers made in defeating the commie North, the behavior of SOME American soldiers stationed in Korea have been despicable and outright atrocious in many ways. Forced rapes, sexual assaults, and various other acts have negatively affected the way many Koreans think of American's and Westerners in general. I was in the Air Force so I know this kind of behavior happens everywhere that American soldiers are stationed in the world. (I could tell you hundreds of stories about my time in England and the behavior of some of the American soldiers there.)

I'm not saying that all American GI's are like that because they are a lot of good people in the military that I've known, but a small percentage of people in the military really make an a*s of themselves while in a foreign country. It's too bad a small percentage of soldiers have to make the rest of look really bad.

When a country is invaded 900 times in its history, the people will become either extremely servile or fiercely proud of their nation (once they achieve independence). Being Korean, I can understand the racism: we feel we've been wronged by just about everybody (which is almost true based on history) and feel the need to "act superior." It's not really racism for racism's sake; it's racism for the sake of pride...if that makes sense...

Besides, Korea is very honor-based. It is not honorable to marry someone outside of the race. Sure it seems backwards now, but you have to realize, Korea has only been Westernized for about 50 years and wasn't a superpower like China or Japan back then. We're going to be a little "backwards" in terms of Western thought...

    "George Bush hates Black People"

"What I'm hearing which is sort of scary is that they all want to stay in Texas. Everybody is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway so this (chuckle) – this is working very well for them." –Former First Lady Barbara Bush, on the hurricane evacuees at the Astrodome in Houston, Sept. 5, 2005

There is probably way more racism in America then in S Korea. The USA up untill a few decades ago still practiced Jim Crow, Lynching, and Segregation. You can pick battles with your neighbors much easier brah.

From the start, This thread served no purpose.. It's just a waste of space, pointless. Perhaps similar to the way your mother thought you were a waste of sperm.. Sure there's racisms, there's racism everywhere, some more than others.. but whats the point of this thread? genius idea texxx, singling out one group of people saying they're racist.. labeling people or attempting to create new stereotypes is just as racist as the people you are so concerned about here.. Get a life Brah!! Honor the Sperm, Who did not Die in Vain!
