Smart would be a disaster. Do not want. Simons and 7 for 3 is reasonable. Simons gives you Jalen insurance and is a big upgrade over Holiday. I believe Cam will be better in the long run, but for next year Simons is better Jalen insurance than Cam.

Unless Shep is gone at 3. If he is gone I do not care if they trade down because I believe there are several players of equal value they can grab later. Shep is the only one worth the #3 pick IMHO. The only other person I might consider at #3 would be Edey but we do not need a center.

Hard to see how Smart fits on this roster unless we are shipping out other players.. Maybe they would trade Smart to another team for more assets.

Now if we are talking #3 + Brooks for #9 + Smart + GG Jackson then I'm a helluva lot more interested.

Good. I don't want Smart......washed up and he went to the perfect place for his career to die.

Delusional to think a 30 year old Marcus Smart is an overpay to move up from 9 to 3, even in a weaker draft.

The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly offered up to three picks in an effort to move into the top 5 tonight, per @HPbasketball. “League sources suggested this week that Memphis has put as many as three picks (with protections) up to try and move into the top five, including the No. 9 pick. If we assume Clingan is the target, that could put him at No. 3, No. 5 or No. 6 from Charlotte (San Antonio's trade-back appetite at No. 4 is thought to be less, especially with their other pick at No. 8).”

where does GG Jackson go if he was in this draft? He's 19 until December 17th... which makes him around 6 months younger than Reed Sheppard for example.

give me #9 and GG... I would be over the moon.

Can you share your ideal minutes distribution for SG/SF assuming we acquire Simons without losing a wing?

the protections are what makes this implausible.

I'm on board with losing a wing. In fact, Brooks would have to be part of the deal to match salaries. My bad, I thought that was understood from my million other posts on the subject. I don't think its a great trade, but not bad. I think it would insure that we are in contention for a playoff spot and I'm not that crazy about Sheppard. If Jalen sucks (I hope not), Simons is an NBA starting SG. If Jalen doesn't suck he seamlessly fits in the guard rotation. In my scenario, Amen starts at the 3 and gets some backup minutes at PG. Cam will probably lose some minutes, but should get some at SF. Tari will get minutes at SF and Pf. It's not ideal, but it is reasonable. My objectives for next season are to get Amen 30+ minutes and add Jalen insurance so that we can both develop our young guys and make the playoffs(playin). Cam is not ready to start at SG and is only 19. Another season at 15-20 mins is ok for him. Whoever we draft (if we draft) is not going to be in the rotation this year.

So basically for the #3 pick they want to give up #9 and two lottery protected first rounders? Those types or picks are not worth much at all. The Grizzlies want to give up a couple picks that will be in the mid 20's for moving into the top 3 in the draft.... and by the 9th pick there is a clear decrease in the quality of players available.

    Not impressed.

Maybe if I were sitting at #5 and didn't want anyone, I would move to #9 with future protected #1's added.

Possibly at number 1. There no way he will be available in any trade in this role player heavy draft.
