    Actually it is the opposite.
It means the price includes Brown.

And Ainge desperately tries to throw mud so the value is lowered.

Whatever comes from Boston the rule of thumb is that black is white and white is black.

    When they say :
"We don't like him and aren't interested" => We love him and are desperate to get him
"We tried to trade for him with 10 picks in the draft" => We threw some 2030 heavily protected 2nd rounders
"He has a bad character" => He will be a great lockeroom fit

I just don't see Atlanta being willing to give up any players that they consider to be a part of their core. I know they were very active in trying to trade the sixth pick for veteran help, but I never saw any reports about their willingness to trade key cogs of their core. As far as I remember Atlanta is still relatively under the cap, so they can us that avenue for acquire free-agents this year or next. I am not sure about next year because of potential contract extensions, but I don't remember any imminent extensions to key players. Why trade Collins for Hayword. This is a lateral move to me, and then they have to worry about signing a new deal with Hayword or losing him,

Very 1984ish... I have always loathed Ainge (hate almost all Celtic and former Celtic players - other than Tatum)

only explanation is that they don't want to pay Collins the max next offseason.

    I don't understand it either.

They drafted a highly touted big, plus Collins and Capela. Something has to go

Is there any evidence the Celtics even like James Harden? He does NOT seem like a Ainge type player.

Also, why would the Hawks do the above? John Collins is better than Gordon Hayward as an asset unquestionably at this point.

Malakas, I am a usually a lurker on this site, but I have always enjoyed your posts and insight. That is interesting that you think the opposite. This would than point to Houston asking for Tatum, which as we all know has been deemed "untouchable." I hope you are right. A deal centered around Brown would not be the worst possible outcome even if it is not optimal. I think he as a lot of untapped potential especially since he has been playing on a team with other players who demand or take (Smart) a lot of shots.

No Brown = No Harden. It’s that simple.

Hardens camp prolly winding bad messages to Boston because he doesn’t want to go there.

It is truly hard to ascertain the true value of Collins as a player. His numbers are great yet he has played on a garbage team. The Hawks front office would obviously know more about his competency as a player more so than anyone else. Still, why trade him for Hayward? That makes no sense to me. It does not move the dial very much, if at all. He also will require a new contract, so from that point of view, it is a mute point. I would rather keep the younger Collins over someone like Hayward who has never been the same player since his injury and is older. I would think they are tying to build around Young, so why give up a younger player in Collins for Hayward? I just don't see it being realistic. Thanks for your response.

From what I read, Atlanta ownership wants to compete now. Drafting Okongwu basically gives them a cheaper younger version of Collins or Clint.

I totally agree, and Malakas brought up a good point about Boston trying to drive down the price tag of acquiring Harden. If that one report is true, than it points to Houston asking for Tatum or to a lesser extent more draft considerations. I still do not see the Rockets trading Harden for a deal centered around Brown. Like I said previously, he is not a household name that casual Rocket fans would be excited to go and see play. I like the idea as long as the package includes multiple picks and obviously other players (make it work salary-wise). However, we are dealing with Tilman here so, I just don't see it happening. I think we hold onto harden until a household name comes to surface. I don't see the Simmons trade happening anytime soon with the recent trades they have made to build around him and Embid. Honestly, it is crazy, we have no idea what will happen. I thought I had an idea, but with the the trade of Covington and than the subsequent trade, I can only surmise that money or revenue is all that matters to this franchise because of Tilman.

Danny Ainge is a shark. He is doing this to bring the asking price down. Philly looks to be moving on with Simmons and the Nets best offer is garbage so the Celtics know they can get a top 3 player for 60 cents of a dollar

What does that mean exactly? Would this mean stay away from Harden and his agent? "Didn't paint a lot of people in a good light" wouldn't really matter if they were talking about Tilman and Stone, right? Why would Ainge care if they're assholes, Ainge is just trying to get an annual MVP contender and superstar on his team. That's why i'm reading it as stay away from Harden. Am i reading that right?

I could see hesitance after they had to deal with Kyrie over there.

So Hayward would replace Collins at the four spot? I still do not see how that would improve there team. Maybe a game or two more, but that is it. He just does not look like the same player he was when he played for the Jazz. I would rather have an P&O option like Collins to pair with Young, and he can also stretch the floor decently.

I agree, I don’t get it either, but if we could benefit from it I wouldn’t care.

Thats been discussed from NBA Supes from the Hawksquawk.net with Boston attempting to obtain GS's #2 pick to flip to us for Harden. Maybe we get Wiseman while GS receiving Jaylen Brown
