I think I read somewhere (in sina, oops) Clyde said Kobe is more skilled than Tmac. But our goal is to win a championship, so it has to be a team-oriented system. Plus, I am a Yao fan and I wouldn't want someone to take so much spotlight from Yao.
if I want to build a championship team, I'll take the guy with three. really, its a wash, and I know he had shaq, but let's not forget who has the rings. as far as the trade is concerned, the lakers are only two games behind the Heat. and injuries count.
Couple points... This notion amongst many here that think T-Mac is a better player than Kobe is just silly. Also, for those that call out Kobe for being selfish. Of course he is selfish. He has to be at this stage of his career because his current teammates suck. Lamar Odom is not a good fit in LA. Odom disappears alot. He's overrated. When Kobe has a better supporting cast he will share the ball more. How many times did Kobe psss to Horry or Brian Shaw or Ron Harper for big 4th quarter shots in the Shaq era? A lot. Of course, once T-Mac gets a better supporting cast, he'll big more highly regarded as well. I think T-Mac should shoot more than he currently does, if of course, his back can handle it.
I don't think we will ever see another 80 point game from a single player. That is the single most amazing accomplishment I have ever heard of from a single player. BTW, I hate Kobe but crap, 81 POINTS!!??
Is that your argument? That it's silly? There are many other qualities besides making shots that make one player better than another. Like making team-mates that are considered SCRUBS better players. How about making his current supporting cast better instead of excusing his selfishness? IMO, I think Odom disappearance has alot to do with Bryant's dominance of the ball because Odom and his team-mates can't get into a rhythm. His team-mates get a glare from him if they go away from him on offense. In reference to him passing to Shaw, Horry, Harper and Shaq during that era you mention; those players kept him in line. Those were veterans and if Bryant did something outside the offense like he did on the OT period to Sacramento he would have heard about it. In the team Bryant is on now, Bryant is the veteran and nobody seems to have the guts to question him.
it never ends so Kobe didn't pass the ball when they won three championships? his team will probably make the playoffs this season.
The Lakers are headed to the playoffs this season. If they started now I believe they would have the 7th seed.
actually no, I don't think there is any footage on record of Kobe passing the ball. Jordan never passed it and he won six championships. It's all about just doing a little reseasrch.
Kobe had Shaq. No Shaq this year. Both of them opened up opportunities for other players. Plus, we're not halfway into the season yet. We'll see at the end of the regular season.
I didn't say anything about T-Mac just the lack of respect for what Kobe has accomplished. Its stupid. But if you want to bring up T-Mac, he had Yao last season and didn't get out the first round. you guys are delusional.
if tmac were to do it, it would have to come while yao was out, just becuase the offense will run through yao and tmac unlike in Laker land who else on the lakers is gonna take and make shots??????? would u pass it to anyone on that team if u needed a shot and u were kobe, helllllll no. but i dont think tmac will unless he is just on fire, but hey who thought we would c an 81 point game??
Still can't help it pgabriel? lol! Did you just equate Yao Ming to Shaq during his prime? Now I know you're smoking. Kobe is a great individual player, the best perimeter scorer in the league, no doubt. But if his scoring makes him greater than everyone else, then obviously Magic and Russell don't measure up since they weren't prolific scorers. Obviously, Stockton isn't great and Nash isn't great because they don't score a ton. Oh, forgot, add Tim Duncan and KG (usually hang around 21ppg or so for their seasonal averages) to that list, because those guys barely score, they just play within the system and involve everyone around them. Yes, they must not be 'great'. Again, I will take team basketball like the Pistons or the Spurs over watching the 'Lakeshow' any day of the week, and it's not a dig at Kobe or anything because I do think he has the ability to pass and involve those around him, but it's his unwillingness that stands out to me and just about everyone who isn't busy sniffing the man's jocks. People are now dissing Lamar Odom? LOL! Oh how quickly we forget how he played like an all-star in a stretch of games when Kobe was out with that injured shoulder of his. People can say what they want about Odom, but he IS an all-star caliber player, and it's not a coincidence that his effeciency goes to another level when Kobe is out. Again, I am happy for Kobe if this is what he wants, I understand he already has three rings with Shaq so it's time for him to "shine". Great talent, and as an NBA fan I love watching him play. I am still intrigued by the idea of him having an Artest next to him just to see what he does with it. I think it would be great drama for the league, everyone would tune in (I know I would)...
STILL CAN'T HELP WHAT, SPEAKING THE TRUTH. your whole post is about theory and what should be, mine is about actual facts. I really wasn't trying to down t-mac, I personally prefer his game to Kobe's. But Kobe gets results. Bottom line. speak to me about results when you respond. thanks in advance.
I've seen posts like Kobe is not a team player and they'll never win a championship, I'd rather have t-mac. do some of you guys realize how stupid that sounds. not that you'd rather have t-mac, but talking about Kobe like he's done nothing in his career but individual accomplishments. but yet if someone brings up t-mac's last season in orlando, everyone brings up he won the scoring title.
