Maybe because he's egotistical. Oh yeah, and he rapes people.

Did any Rockets fan say David Robinson should be respected as a great player when he had his 70+ game?

I actually watched the majority of the first half to this game... and then I went out to eat some pho.

    . . .

    Doh!

Note: you would NEVER know kobe would blow up to 81 points from the way it was going in the first half. In fact, I would say it was a bit of a quiet first half (a 'quiet' 26 points). They were gettin beat by 15+ so I thought the Raptors were gonna win again since they've improved. If Kobe can outdo his 62-point output, maybe he'll outdo his 81?

Man, im so sick of that argument. Sure Kobe cares about his stats.... which NBA Super Star doesnt?? I know I'd rather average 30 p/p/g than 5 p/p/g.

Its pretty clear to me that Kobe wants to win ball games. I dont think that ANYONE would want to play team sports and not want to win games - but aslong as they have good stats its ok

You think Kobe went home to his wife and said "hey honey, i scored 81 points today?"

    "thats great. did you win?"

    "Who cares."

    HAhahah that makes me laugh.

So he already has 3 rings. Good for him. Does that mean he doesnt want more? Its pretty clear that he gives his all on the court. Nobody likes to lose

OK so you might not like his personality. No one is asking you to be his friend. Infact, you dont even know his personality. You dont know him so dont judge him as if you do.

I just cant wait for the game where Kobe gets 10+ assists, 10 + rebs
"Oh that guy just cares about his stats." LOL

Actually, I think her response would be,

    "Who you screw THIS time?"

Kobe is just the premier perimeter player in the league now, period. TMac would be right there if not for his screwed up back.

As much as I don't like him, I would have been as fascinated by anyone in the stands if I was there watching him tally 81. Just looking up at the scoreboards and seeing him tick over 50, 60, 70....ridiculous.

And to get in my obligatory jab - the 0.04 assist/shot ratio has to make Yinka Dare proud.

Anyone hear the post game interview?

Kobe was saying that the game was not going how he wanted, he felt like he and his teammates were being lethargic. He said he was thinking that they had 4 days off after this game and he would be sick if he had to sit around for 4 days thinking about a loss, so he stepped up his game and the 81 just sorta happened. Said he couldn't explain it.

Kobe did it for the W. The guy just wants to win.

    whoa whoa whoa

im hardly complaining .....along with the 81 points, its an amazing stat/ratio ....the fact that he took almost all his teams shots in one quarter, and still scored as many as he did is amazing ....you would think the Raptors would get the ball out of his hands

    Jordan who?

I'm curious to see if Kobe can break Wilt's record this season.

what are we suppose to do, pop the champagne and cigars?
we're amazed at his skill, but are we really happy for him?
why do people in his hometown of philly boo him during the finals? even though he's a much better player than iverson?
the person and player are one. we do care about the personality. that's why
Grant Hill gets lots of all star votes every year, even though he never plays.

i'll be first to say that kobe has the same skills as Michael Jordan, but he'll never be remembered as foundly as Jordan.

81 pts is an amazing task. If anyone else did it, they'd get more love. its not about respect, everyone (like or hate) knows Kobe has skills.

Here's an example, if Kobe won 6 Tour de Frances, he wouldnt be as popular as Lance Armstrong.

That is too much to expect, I would think. But one thing is certain: everytime Kobe steps on the court, it will be a show.
