Even with comparable supporting casts, Kobe would still have to dominate over the course of a decade to be in the same class as MJ. I'm not saying he can't do it but to say that he's there already is a bit premature.
Forgetting all these comparisons, I think Kobe is just going to rip the Celtics to shreads in this series.
So you are saying that you think that Kobe is better than Shaq in his prime? I think few people would agree with you. Kobe never won a title as the man on a team, you can say what you want but Shaq got all the final MVP's, and not Kobe. I really cannot understand how people can say Kobe is better than Jordan. IMHO he is not even top 5 player ever, maybe not even top 10. He has never won a Championship as the main man on any team. Which is important in the discussion of being the best basketbal player ever. Maybe he will this year, and if he gets a three peat than he will probably a top 5 player. IMHO Kobe is not even close to being as good as Jordan, Jordan won 6 championships all as the man of the team, of course he had great role players, but so does every championship team (even our beloved rockets). when kobe is able to win 4 championships as the man than we can start the discussion if he is close to Jordan. I really get the feeling that people who compare Kobe to Jordan, never watched him play, i mean every game he played you just Knew he would win. at one point he won 72 games in regular season. and also steamrolled through the play offs. that was just sick.
Pippen + kukoc + rodman >> Odom+Gasol+any other laker besides kobe. MJ had a good supporting cast if not better than Kobe's. Kobe is an amazing player bar none. I still think MJ is better overall. That man is incredibly strong. I think the one aspect that does it for me is MJ had to do his duty vs the hand check rules. If kobe played in that era I think a lot of defenders could physically bully Kobe around a bit, but as dedicated as Kobe is I'm sure he would dedicate to making himself stronger to deal with that type of defense. But that type of physicality in that era of basketball will wear on Kobe over time.
Well if you read the original post, I was saying that this chance to beat the CEltics is his opportunity to rise up. This is a big obstacle so if he can overcome this, it's big. As for now, I'm not saying he's better than MJ or like MJ.
i prefer a balance b/w speed and size. why only you can "prefer" and others can't "think" while still be a grown-up? because you "prefer" size so anyone with a different opinion (or preference) needs to "grow up"?
whats sad is most of yall who say shaq has more talent/skill then kobe has never touched an actual bball what made jordan/kobe so insane is that they are 6`6 guards dominating a big man's game when u stand 2' from the from like shaq and turn and dunk 20x a game THAT IS NOT SKILL OR TALENT ITS JUST SIZE AND POWER taking a turn around fadeaway from 20ft out and not touching the rim= ALL SKILL. wilt cham. had 0 skill. he was just bigger/taller then everyone else ya there were a few tall guys that played em i dont care folks like CP3 just impress the hell out of me at that level with their body size
are you serious there is a difference between winning 7 rings total as the 1st and 2nd best player on a team and winning many rings as a roleplayer
yes he has the rape allegations that by our knowledge a money hungry slut accused him of... but in terms of being a role model for his teamates and aspiring basketball players he is perfect.... He is one of the hardest workers in basketball
Very good! I said the same to a friend too! Shaq relies on his huge size more than anyone. I prefer Yao over Shaq. Yao has the sweetest jumper for a center. Shaq struggles with free throws his whole career.
So you're going to fault Wilt and Shaq for being big? Sorry, but just because you have size, doesn't automatically make you a good player. There have been lots of players around the size of Shaq, some even bigger and they couldn't touch what Shaq did. If you're saying Shaq doesn't have skill, you are nuts. Aside from a dominant post game, hes one of the best passing big men and has above average ball handles for his size. If you ever watched Shaq play in Orlando, you wouldn't say he doesn't have skills or talent. Yes, it takes skill to be that big and be able to play good basketball. By your logic, every 7 footer should be dominating the game right? Why doesn't every center back in it like Shaq and dunk every time? Not to mention that theres only about 3 or 4 quality centers in the NBA right now. Hell, even Kobe himself said he was the #2 on those Shaq-Kobe Laker teams.
gotta admit shaq does have some skills, but no where close to kobe's, 7 footer does not automatically make you dominant, but it makes dominance much easier to come. yes kobe said he was no.2 on the team, do u really expect him to say yes?
Well he already failed in that he lost with the Lakers with another top 5 player in the league and lost to a team with no star at all and a guy named Billups who never even made an allstar team took home Finals MVP.
will he all ready filled in that he lust with the lickers with another tough 5 players in the leg and lust to a theme with nose tar at all and a gay named billy ups who never eve in made an all stars tame talk home finals emveephee.
