    KOBE WANTS OUT (AGAIN)

Jerry Buss met with his unhappy $88.6-million employee, Kobe Bryant, for a get-together Friday between owner and superstar in the somewhat surprising setting of Spain.

They had spoken by phone two weeks ago, a few days after Bryant asked to be traded, but this was a longer, more emotional conversation.

Buss wanted to appeal to the nine-time All-Star, reminding him that trades take time to develop and that winning remains the focus of the organization, but Bryant voiced concerns about the direction of the franchise and reiterated his demand to be traded, said a source with knowledge of the situation.

"That's the message that came out of it," the source said.

Team sources vehemently insisted there were no plans to trade Bryant, and they were still hopeful that a peaceful solution could be reached. Bryant and Buss are expected to resume their dialogue in the near future.

Man does this guy ever stops whinning?

First he wants out then he wants back in now out again?

This guy reminds me of my first girlfriend in high school, she could never make up her mind about being with me. After I few times I let that b!tch know I ain't taking her **** no more. Lakers should do the same but then again make up sex was the most enjoyable part of the whole thing. Dont know if Jerry Buss wants to hump Kobe though? Maybe he should, perhaps then Kobe would once and for all shut up and just play the game. :D

This is very funny. I think after watching Lebron and his team go to the finals and get those accolades, he couldn't help but feel that he should be the one to get all that attention. But what's even MORE funny is that if he does go to the Bulls, there's a great possibility of that happening.

I wonder what'll happen when that video of him "bashing the Lakers organization" leaks.

I don't care I hope Kobe goes and someone in the East can be at least worth winning the title.

    Agreed.

I am far more interested in a more 'balanced' league than the Kobe drama. Kobe is a b**** and a snitch, everyone knows it, but he's arguably the best in the game. The question is: which Eastern Conf team can he help the most? I am hoping he goes to a good team in the East, because it's good for the league to have him with a Chicago or a NYC or even a Boston.

Reports: Bryant not budging off trade demand
    ESPN.com news services

The Press-Enterprise of Riverside, Calif. cited two unnamed league sources, who said Buss was shocked by Bryant's continued demand for a trade, and left the meeting uncertain if he would comply with the disgruntled All-Star's wishes.

A source told the Los Angeles Times that Buss wanted to appeal to Bryant, reassuring him that winning remains the team's focus and that trades take time to engineer, but that Bryant remained concerned about the team's direction and did not budge from his demand.

Team sources told the Times the Lakers still have no plans to trade Bryant and remain hopeful that the situation can be resolved.

The Lakers confirmed the meeting took place but would not go into details. Bryant had been vacationing in Spain, while Buss has been in China for the past two weeks.

"Our position is that it's a private meeting between the two of them and it shall remain private between the two of them," Lakers public relations director John Black said.

Bryant's agent, Rob Pelinka, didn't return messages seeking comment, both newspapers reported. But on Friday, he told ESPN.com''s Chad Ford, "Kobe's position remains unchanged ... Kobe would like to be moved."

Damn we better get Kobe for McGrady....he's a better fit...and a way better player.

damn, what a jerk! he gets exactly what he wants and then asks out. you cant quit your own team, the one that was made just for you! as far as the lakers, thanks to "the choker" they have absolutely no leverage with other teams, just like with shaq.

this guy is about as stable as ron artest. both destroyed their franchises. actually, the lakers will be lucky if they come out as "well" as the pacers have.

maybe he just figures there is a whole slew of women on the east coast that he can choke while he is having sex with them?

    WHO WANTS TO SEX KOBE!

Bryant needs to shut up and play. He is the only reason that he is in the situation that he is in today. I'm really tired of his whining.

I'm really glad he wants to be traded. It will make the NBA a lot more interesting, especially if he goes East. The East needs some firepower BAD.

Watching Kobe implode is really amusing.

Can't you just see him at home in his bathroom looking into the mirror and saying to himself "You are the greatest. You are the best ever. You are the fastest. You are the strongest. You can kick Karl Malone's ass. You can kick Shaq's ass. You can kick Andrew Bynums ass. You are the best looking. No girl would ever really say no to you..."

    What a friggin Ego-Case...

He's gonna wind up getting a huge gang-wedgie in the Lakers locker room.

Man I haven't been to the BBS in a while and one of the things that used to kill me were all the hilarious dreamcasts.

Check out this one that I found on the Lakers main BBS:

In Kobe's defense, he never actually said he "wanted back in." What he said was that he really didn't want to leave LA. Any moron should be able to understand that he means IF everything were okay, he'd prefer to stay.

But that's a BIG "if" -- evidently, Jerry Buss still hasn't convinced Kobe that he'll do whatever it takes to win now. When they traded Shaq, Buss told Kobe that there were in "win now" mode and that he'd everything he could to provide the right mix of players. But he told Phil Jackson that they would be in rebuilding mode for the next few years -- one reason Jackson decided to quit when he did. When Kobe found out that Buss had told him one thing and told others the exact opposite, he was furious.

So what Kobe actually said was:

1> On Stephen A. Smith's show: "I want to be traded."

2> On ESPN radio, after the host asked him if he really wanted to leave Los Angeles, and if there was anything that could be done to make him stay: "I want to stay here. I hope they can do something."

3> Now he meets with Buss again and evidently the meeting doesn't go well -- either Buss refused to commit to the "win now" concept, or if he did, Kobe doesn't believe him.

Sure, Kobe's a prick. But I'm on his side on this one. Jerry Buss is a rich doofus who doesn't know what he's doing when it comes to basketball. He was just fortunate that Jerry West was his GM for years and West does know a thing or two. It's no accident that the franchise has been stumbling around without any real direction since West left.

I don't believe every word that comes out of Kobe's mouth. I don't buy his, "I want to stay here. I hope they can do something" statement at all. He's just cleaning up his public image. How much you wanna bet during his next interview Kobe says he wants to stay? Name your amount. So, I'm NOT with Kobe on this one unless he has the guts to admit openly once and for all he wants to go.

Also, it isn't necessarily a matter of Jerry Buss convincing Kobe "he'll do whatever it takes to win now". It's a matter of Kobe telling them: It's too late for that, get me outta here I don't care what you do. Some unnamed person in the Lakers organization made statements to the media that have burnt the bridge, in Kobe's mind. He has soured on the Lakers as an organization, not on their committment to field a better team.

I agree with A_3PO 100%. The exact reason the Lakers are in such a bind is because they have been burdened with a "Win Now" attitude every off season since they resigned him. Therefore they go out and pay big bucks for guys like Radmonivich and Brian Cook because they were acting desperate during very sparse free agent years. Same scenario as in Minnesota, and now unfortunately Houston. Teams need to quit trying to form Championship teams every off season and look at a players value before signing him to a long term contract. Simply draft quality players, sign free agents at good value and develop team chemistry over time.

The Lakers have made every trade, free agent signing and draft pick with Kobe in mind, and this is the result. If they had made decisions based on what was best for the Lakers, the team would be much better.

I think the biggest reason this has popped up again is that issue number 1 with Kobe right now is he wants Kupchak fired. He wanted that to happen when he first made a fit, and is probably irked that he's still at the helm.

As strange as this might sound, a move like this would hurt Kobe more than it does the Lakers, one of the biggest American markets.

    1) If Kobe is traded to a team like the Knicks or Bulls for a crop of good players, it might actually make the team some what more competitive, while at the same times remember this is the Lakers so they could easily go out in the next one or two years a get high-priced top of the line f.a. like LeBron, Nowitzki, Amare, or Yao.

Low and behold, they would suddenly have good team again. Ratings, ha ha, people always watch the Lakers, so that wouldn't be problem.

    2) Kobe is just like anyone LA...no like any other Hollywood star, there might be some commotion in the beginning, but if the Lakers got the right players and became a high-seeded or championship team again it wouldn't matter and a lot of people would forget that Kobe even existed.
