Kobe is gonna go to a big market team. He's not gonna play for the Pacers or Memphis. It's gonna be Houston, Chicago, New York. I can see him with the Knicks easy. Knicks will probably unload almost everyone they got to get Kobe. Eddie Curry in the Post Teamed with Kobe is almost frightening.

um, they took odom/butler/grant who robs ppl for money for shaq.

they WILL take tmac. and tmac looks healthy. tmac is perfect for the triangle. odom fits perfectly w/ tmac. and w/ tmac, they might actually get stars to play w/ him. so why the hell not?

Partly because keeping Kobe around was the biggest return for moving Shaq. They wanted him gone, out of the conference, and did not want a star that would challenge Kobe's brilliance (re: ego).

NOW - they are in the same no-win situation as Minnesota. Kobe is a very rare meal-ticket superstar, and this is a business. The amount of revenue Buss stands to lose by moving Bryant is staggering, and well beyond the $17 million he's making. LA celebs are not going to buy high dollar seats/suites to watch Andrew Bynum struggle through a 0.400 season.

They need to either turn around and win quick, or bring in a star with comparable stature. Not happening. Making matters worse, Kobe is going to give them a short list of teams he wants to go to and can squash any other moves with his no-trade clause.

Buss has to be going ape right now.

No shot at him. The only player we have they'd want is Yao. It would Take like Yao plus Battier plus picks to get Kobe (just in terms of salary.)

I don't know that I want Kobe and T-Mac on the same team though.

My guess is Boston or the Knicks.

Trade everyone except Yao to LA for KOBE, whoever, whatever, make it happen.

Or Trade Yao to whereever Kobe goes.

    Yao and Kobe=NBA CHAMPIONSHIP.

ALSO TO ALL THE DICKS OUT THERE THAT HATED THE KOBE AND ALWAYS SAID THAT HE'S THE ONE WANTED SHAQ TO BE TRADED, OR HE'S THE ONE THAT RAPE THE GIRL, YOU NOW KNOW HALF OF THEM IS NOT TRUE, AND THE MATTER OF FACT IS THAT THE GIRL IS A SLUT, HE HAS SLEPT WITH A THOUSAND GUYS OVER THE YEAR, AND WHEN SHE SEE KOBE, THE SLUTS WANTS MONEY, THAT'S ALL.

Also, all of you dumb azz who said Tmac+alston or whatever for Kobe are just r****ded, the truth is that Lakers wouldn't trade anything with Tmac, Shane, Howard in the deal.

Teams that Kobe would Play for:

    Chicago/ Houston/ Phoenix/ New York/ Denver/ Clippers/ Dallas

With Kobe's no-trade clause, he would only want to go to a contender and play with strong inside presence.

    Chicago: Gordon/Deng and Change
    Houston: T-Mac/ Head
    Phoenix: Amare/ Barbosa
New York: Frye/ Marbury/ Etc (crap!)
    Denver: Carmelo/ Nene
    Clippers: Elton/ Change
    Dallas: Nowitzki

I think that the only other situations that Kobe could truly have another star caliber player in a big market would be Phoenix or Denver. Dallas would be very deep but mostly with swing players and would still be a doughnut.

Phoenix would be Nash/Marion/Kobe and change which would be compelling and Denver would still have AI/Camby etc.

I honestly think that Houston with Kobe/Yao/Battier and change is the best option if Kobe truly wants out into a situation with a strong dominant inside presence.

Though I do think T-Mac runs the offense better and is a better player, team-mate and playmaker. I also think T-mac is a more versatile defender and scorer. Kobe, though lacks the health issues and is just a killer instinct player. Yao is the perfect complement to his ego.

I think if we traded for Kobe we would have an even more immediate need for a better point guard or for Yao to play the high post and be more of a playmaker as Vlade/Webber did in Sacramento.

I also think we should trade for Artest and attempt to Keep Bonzi as Kobe has the Jordan type personality that keeps players (like Jordan Kept Rodman and Pippen) in line.

I think if he wants out, Houston truly is the best situation for him and LA would get back T-Mac who is a comprable talent and a young good player in Head.

I pray to God Kobe ends up in a really crappy market like Atlanta or Bucks.. hahaha. I really don't like him.

He's not coming to Houston, I don't know why people would even entertain this idea. Just let it go. We're not gonna give up Yao, he's our most important piece. We're not trading the best 5 in the league for a egotistical ballhog who can't trust his teammates.

I don't think Tmac is going anywhere either. Adelman was brought in to work with our 2 stars, not trade them. If anything we're gonna trade around them to help them out.

I already very much dislike Kobe. If for some miraculous reason Kobe ends up here, I don't think I have enough emotions in me to hate him even more.. it's that bad. Partly because we'd have already traded him one of our stars for him.

I get that Houston would be a great setup for Kobe, but why would the Lakers want McGrady? Back injuries, possible decline, playoff failures, etc. T-Mac/Head would be a terrible return for Bryant.

OK, I'll drop my sarcasm and be nice to you. This is a breaking news on ESPN radio and has nothing to do Jerry West, whom was the topic (or part of it) of the other thread.

I disagree. You could make a case for Kevin Garnett for Kobe.
