I voted T-Mac, but not because I'm a homer. I think Kobe is the better player now, but Christ... is there a guy in all of pro sports who's being much more disruptive than this guy right now? Sure, in a few months things'll probably cool off and I'll say "Kobe" to this question when asked, but right at the moment I'm thinking I wouldn't want to deal with this much drama.

Speaking as a basketball fan as opposed to a rockets fan,
    also ignoring character:

Tmac really isn't even close to Kobe. Tmac is where Kobe was 4 years ago. Kobe was already a great player then, as Tmac is now, but he improved every season since. Tmac do have plenty of upside left though. I am hoping for the best.

    Defense: Kobe by far.
Offense: Kobe again. Tmac is still learning to score when facing a zone or when double teamed. Kobe's ability to attack the basket despite defense is far superior.

Creating for others: Tmac has an edge here in my opinion. He just finds people very naturally. It's a shame our guys can't finish them.

Tmac is every bit of athlete Kobe is. Kobe just have more experience at this point. I hope Tmac continues to work hard to be the best. Between Tmac, Lebron and Kobe. It'll be interesting to see who the best player is say 4 years later. I'll be rooting for Tmac. But right now, Kobe is in a league of his own.

ATTN all you Kobe-lovers - you can't ignore character. This question was not who is better (Kobe) it about who you would build around. Do any of you guys hear the drams that is coming out of the Laker's camp. Kobe's talking about Shaq to the media, Kobe's talking about Malone to the media.

    Kobe picks his players

    Kobe picks the coaches

    Odom wants out of LA

when you look at Kobe, you can find game but you can't find an OUNCE of character.

Prediction.... Tmac comes closer to winning a ring in the future than Kobe!

    Fair enough.

Like I said, I stated my opinion less character.

I agree with what you said though.

I can't stand kobe ,but he is more explosive plays lock down D and he has more heart that's the diffrence I see.I see flashes of kobe in t mac from time to time.he has some of the same moves and shoot looks the same bith are play makers, but I think kobe is on another level right now.I saw kobe get the ball stole from him and recoop and come back and block the shot.I saw the same thing happen to T mac and he just let the dude have the lay up.even francis would hustle back on D and try make up for his mistake.

    Scoring - Equal

Defense - Kobe all the way

Intangibles - Kobe killing TMAC here

    Libido - Kobe undisputed winner

Attitude - both have problems here

    Heart - Kobe again

Rings - need i say more

Kobe is the better player that i would love to build my team around. Shaq or no shaq, he is still head and shoulders above all the players compared to him. I think at this point in his career, Lebron James is the only player i can think of that i would trade kobe for. And i still believe that kobe is a bit better than king james. Two to three years from now, my opinion may change. But for now, i rest my case. Kobe is thrice the player tmac is, was and ever will be.

The problem with all that is that you're ignoring T-Mac's character.

T-Mac picks on his players and blames them for his failures.

T-Mac picks on his coaches and gets them ran out of town when they don't worship him.

Everyone wanted out of Orlando and now nobody misses him.

Kobe had enough character to win 3 championships, Shaq didn't win them alone, wouldn't have won them without Kobe, and Shaq had his own character problems. How much character has T-Mac shown through out his career? Both these dudes have issues, Kobe wants to be the man at all costs, T-Mac is ok with losing as long as he looks good.

My prediction... Lebron comes closer to winning a ring than both of them!

With all that said in the end, who cares about how these guys act? What difference does it make? The only thing that matters is WINNING! Everything else equal, I think a team with Kobe Bryant would win more than a team with Tracy McGrady and that's why I voted for him.

Comparing T-Mac's character to Kobes is just not even close. Sorry, but every game the Rockets play does not turn into a soap opera which has been the case for Kobe for nearly 3 years now.

So what man? The Lakers were winning and the Rockets are losing give me the soap opera if it means we win. I don't really care about character with these two because they both have problems, doesn't really matter if Kobe's is ten times worse than Mac's as long he wins.

And you're gonna give him all the credit for that?

Wait and see this year if the soap opera is back (already has been) and if the team wins (theyr'e doing so-so, may not make the playoffs really in the end)

Didn't say he gets all the credit, he deserves a lot though.

The soap opera never left. The Lakers are so-so. Sometimes good sometimes bad they don't have much after Kobe and Lamar so maybe they won't make the playoffs, but anything could happen because they are playing hard.

Chad Ford said it on Rome yesterday

and I was not ignoring Tmac's character issues, I just think that Kobe's are WORSE (not that Tmac is a saint)

and as for the person that said Lebron is better than both... well NO $hit !!!! .... but THAT wasn't the question, was it Captain Kirk ?!?!

No the best franchise player right now is Tim Duncan. He was surrounded with no body and still come up with a ring.
