the worst non shortened shooting year of jordan's career vs kobe's best.

That being said i would probably take a 34 year old kobe over a 34 yo michael, after all, michael had suffered a lot more physical punishment even with the 1.5 years off due to rules and was in his final year and kobe probably has 2 more after this year left.

Mike still played defense at 34. Meanwhile, Kobe is doing his best Kevin Martin impression on defense.

I'd still take Jordan. Smarter player and dominant post up fade away. Kobe was on his way to having that and just went back to a jumpshooter for some reason.

Jordan avg'ed 23 at 38 and 20 at 39. I'm sure he'd still be a top scorer 35-37 if he didn't retire. It's unfortunate he has what? Mostly 3 total seasons in his prime due to injury or retirement and then another few if he played from 35 to when he came back at 38. Wonder how his totals would look. His ppg avg would probably look worse due to his avg's 35+yo but his totals would be even more amazing.

The Bulls won 62 that year, and were going for a three peat, and Jordan was still playing D. Kobe's wanking at the defensive end this year when it comes to help D.

Jordan didn't play defense after first retirement.

    Kobe: 3.6 turnovers
    MJ: 2.3 turnovers

    Kobe: .223 WS/48
    MJ: .238 WS/48

    Kobe: 1.4 steals
    MJ: 1.7 steals

    Kobe: 0.3 blocks
    MJ: 0.5 blocks

    Kobe: 107 Drtg
    MJ: 100 Drtg

Kobe is having an amazing season, and his first that is really MJ like. We'll see if he can do it throughout the entire season.

Also man, its just crazy that Kobe can last this long... This guy came into the league at 18 years young. This guy has way more mileage than Jordan and I commend him for that. Jordan is nevertheless the better player because this guy retired, came back, and won 3 championship...

Correction. Jordan didn't have the responsibility of playing defense because he had Pip and Harper. But he didn't suck defensively, like Kobe does this season.

Put Jordan in a lineup with Nash, Howard, Artest, Gasol, and Jamison, and there is no way in hell his record is under .500
