I can't fathom a trade involving Kobe Bryant where he ends up on a Western Conference contender. Also, I know he's a better player than Tracy - but I think this would make us a worse team. Also, I don't like Kobe and I don't want him on my favorite team.
I would rather debate Tmac's health and desire for the next 10 years than win 3 championships with Kobe.... not that I think getting Kobe=championships. If we want a championship that bad, why don't we trade Tmac for an expiring contract and use the money to put the entire ref's union on the Rocket's payroll. That would be a more reliable way to win, we wouldn't have to watch Kobe hog the ball, and we can keep Alston as the starting PG without having to whine about his shooting anymore.
But it's the Lakers that need to move Kobe - not the Rockets needing to pick him up. What I'm trying to say is there is more weight on the Lakers to move Kobe (why else would you want to move the scoring leader) than there is for another team to try and pick him up. The Lakers won't give him away, but I don't think a rape job would be considered by most teams. Trading best player which has been vocal about wanting to leave will most likely not get you back an equal return.
how is any team w/ kobe becomes automatic contenders? he can't even get out of the first round w/o shaq. last yr, he couldn't even bring the suns to more than 5 games.
Agreed. I think the Rockets have a history of classy players. Hakeem, Yao, Tracy, Clyde, Barkley (if you ignore the gambling, womanizing, and throwing bar patrons through windows), Vernon (theory coming apart at the seams)... Well, I didn't care about that stupid theory anyway! I just hate Kobe and I don't want to see him in a Rockets uniform.
Hey guys I been reading these forums for the past 2 years now. Its my first time posting so don't get too hard on me. I just want to start off by saying. I am the BIGGEST Kobe hater in the world!! I cant fathom the guy. He is one cocky sob. I am a very big tmac fan, but in all honesty, if the trade for tmac and kobe were to happen. I would pull the trigger with no remorse. Tmac use to do everything better than kobe, but like most people have said, that was a long time ago. Tmac is no Kobe now. Kobe is a hardworker and is willing to do anything to win (killer instinct). Business is business, I would put my hatred aside just to see kobe play for the rox with yao. They could win countless titles together. Just think about it! Kobe + Shaq + scrubs won 3 titles. Kobe + Yao + Franchise + Bonzi + Battier + Mike James + Scola. Man that would be fkin awesome.
No they don't HAVE to move him, but if they DO move him, they are not going to be raping anyone. Oh and when SF3 becomes trade datable... Incoming Players Kobe Bryant 6-6 SG from Lower Merion (HS) 31.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 5.4 apg in 40.8 minutes Outgoing Players Steve Francis 6-3 PG from Maryland 11.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.9 apg in 28.1 minutes Tracy McGrady 6-8 SG from Mount Zion Christian Academy (HS) 24.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 6.5 apg in 35.8 minutes
again, it's all about championships. if morey thinks kobe will bring him a championship, i'm not against it. i don't think getting kobe and trading tmac + possibly battier/scola will make the team a winner. kobe has serious issues playing with a star player. he doesn't even let odom handle the ball as much. yao may be humble and a nice team player, but he has never played with a guy like kobe. francis was nice enough to reduce his offensive game when yao first came. i don't think kobe would reduce his offensive game for anyone, considering how much freedom he has had to jack up 27-28 shots the last 3 years.
again, lakers would want scola/battier (at least one of them) + james/francis along w/ tmac lakers would offer the rox kobe + prolie kwame (they don't like the dude over here in LA)
Well Tmac + Battier + James for kobe wouldn't be so bad. Think about man. Mikey James is a ballhog. Just watch the game from yesterday, that guy looks to get his first. I rather have rafer running the show with franchise next to him. Battier is a proven player. I like his game a lot, but the guy has very little offensive game and that will hurt come playoff time. Tmac is tmac. add those 3 players to get kobe, I would be all over it. The rockets roster would still own the whole league with ease. Kobe is a better offensive and defensive player than tmac. I been a rocket fans ever since the Akeem rookie days, so I followed the rockets very closely. I can just tell that the rockets would get so much further with kobe than tmac. Sorry, but tmac has had his chance to get us past the first round 3 times, but have failed to do so. I just don't want to see yao's prime wasted seeing that tmac is so injury prone.
Watch the USA Basketball team, he has no problem playing with other star players. He got 3 titles with the diesel and reaching the finals four times. Plus who da hell cant get along with Yao? YAO IS YAO. Hes the guy who sent xmas card to shaq when shaq was still talking all that trash to the guy.
All Morey is doing is forcing Dallas to have to up the ante and pay more. He ain't interested in Kobe.
again, i'm not against trading for kobe. but i know yao would decline mightily in touches. you're going to think kobe is going from shooting 27-28 shots to now 19-20 shots (splitting shots with yao). think about it. yao is not shaq where he demands respect from kobe in terms of intimidation. yao is happy to be a 2nd option and kobe would relish that. and i'm not sure if yao can be dominant in that role. but you're also going to believe the lakers GET better in that trade also. u give them mike james and w/ fisher form a pretty good PG. tmac and evans man the SG. battier mans the SF. u have odom + bynum. they have a decent bench w/ farmar/vlad/evans. i think both teams get what they want. rockets get a superstar. lakers get a superstar and get better. u must believe tmac will make the lakers better.
Kobe's issue with Odom is personal. He has no respect for him. I can't tell you how many times he's looked at Odom with a completely disgusted look on his face. One instance you may remember is when Tracy went right by Odom at the buzzer in a game at LA last season or the year before. Kobe lost patience and wants Odom thrown off the boat. If Kobe came here for Tracy, we would be a much better team.
um, he's not playing a WHOLE season with them. he's not playing 40 mins for them. he knows that team does not need him to win so he can't go in with that mentality. if kobe is not there, they can always bring in another player. but seriously, if u can't play with shaq, one of the most unselfish players ever, how u gonna play with another all-star on an NBA TEAM (not USA basketball, not all-star team). NBA team and USA team are two completely different things.
ok, now kobe comes here and sees yao gets his shots blocked, turn the ball over (like we saw in utah), u don't think kobe would look at him the same way? odom is more important to that team than u think. lakers had a 3-2 record WITHOUT kobe. they had a sub .500 record WITHOUT odom. think about that.
