Salaries man, salaries. Bryant makes an obscene amount. There's no way you can dump all these low-salary guys in to make it work.
kobe and tmac makes about the same. u can trade them straight up. but lakers don't want that b/c they want to trade kwame too and get more depth in return.
The point-forward guy strikes again, this guy is on crack. watch this guys? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rgk9xvroqA0
kobe is pulling a vince carter to force a trade. oh my, i thought his competitive fire is stronger than this. but b/c he has WON 3 RINGS WITH SHAQ, notice how the media is NOT all over this (w/ analysts criticizing him like they did VC) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21504366/
I'm sorry, I love Tmac. BUT Kobe is the superior player, and he's proven he can win a CHAMPIONSHIP with a top center while McGrady has yet to get out of the first round of the playoffs in his career. If there is any possible way to land Kove at the price Tmac and some throw in players Morey should have the Lakers number on speed dial calling them every day.
that center was shaq. kobe could avg 22 pts and they win the championship. this center is yao. tmac avg 32 ppg in 04-05 and 25 last yr in the playoffs and still not enough despite playing more of an around game than kobe when kobe was w/ shaq. yao is not even close to shaq's playoff level.
I want facts!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want stats for every playoff game they have played together. I want to be able to judge if you are correct! I can't take your word for it, you are just one of the many! Stats speak for themselves!
ok. a few posts up, i posted 6-7 games where kobe struggles mightily and the lakers still manage to pull playoff games out (games where 29/13 that tmac put together would be considered ridiculously dominant and not just good on here) and i'll give u the stats during their championship years for both shaq and kobe and you will know (from basketball reference) 2000 shaq - 30.7 ppg, 15.4 rpg, 2.5 bpg kobe - 21.1 ppg, 4.5rpg, 4.4 apg on 44% shooting (u think we even win ONE DAMN PLAYOFF GAME WITH TMAC DOING THIS?) think about that 2001 shaq - 30.4ppg, 15.4 rpg, 2.5bpg kobe - 29.4ppg, 7.3rpg, 6.1 apg on 46% shooting (he really played well that year, esp. vs the spurs but tmac has put up better stats than this in 04-05 and we still can't win b/c u see the difference b/t shaq and yao) 2002 shaq - 28.5ppg, 12.6rpg, 2.3 bpg kobe - 26.6ppg, 5.8rpg, 4.6apg on 43% shooting (tmac avg around this last yr) so as you've seen, tmac avg 30.7, 7.4rpg, 6.7 apg in 04-05 v. the mavs. 25.3, 5.9rpg, and 7.3 apg v. the jazz. kobe has not had to do all the work (all-around in terms of rebounding/passing/initiating offense) that tmac has to deal with if you see the lakers from the past. shaq was basically the catalyst. the only series u can say kobe outshined shaq during their yrs together was that one series v. the spurs in 2001 where he had consecutive 40+ PT games. so now u know: tmac does his part for the most part. yao is just not on shaq's level if you want a 2-man tandem to carry the load.
just so ppl say well tmac averages better stats b/c he hasn't had better teams, well WRONG. kobe's playoff stats the last 2 yrs 2006 - 27.9ppg, 6.3rpg, 5.1 apg 2007 - 32.8ppg, 5.2rpg, 4.4 apg tmac's best overall years all-around: 2001 - 33.8ppg, 6.5rpg, 8.3apg 2002 - 30.8ppg, 6.3rpg, 5.5apg 2003 - 31.7ppg, 6.7rpg, 4.7apg 2005 - 30.7ppg, 7.4rpg, 6.7apg last yr was his WORST YEAR EVER in the playoffs (his standards are so high) 2007 - 25.3ppg, 5.9rpg, 7.3apg so again, don't expect 25, 6, 7 again next year when we roll into the playoffs. he's healthy so expect something like 31ppg, 7rpg, 7apg
Kobe is not a cancer unless you call a guy who is one of the two main contributors to three rings a cancer. Kobe is the best player on the earth right now, just that he got no help in LA and he needs someone like Shark. I doubt T-Mac plus Yao will bring Rox a ring at all, or even to the second round. They have played together for 3 years. Both players have the same weakness, or say confidence to the second round. Kobe almost single handedly beat Suns that had 3 super stars. I strongly support trade for Kobe, either give up T-Mac or Yao Ming. Rox may want to keep Yao for other reasons. So trade T-Mac for Kobe would be the greatly deal for Rox.
stoudamire was not playing that season only way the lakers had a chance on the inside. they actually got a very favorable draw that year and lost a 3-1 lead where kobe basically quit on the team in game 7. i felt bad for the first time for my laker fan friends i would hate to see anyone esp the leader quit in such a crucial game.. you could just tell he just didnt care anymore and since when is marion a super star? he is an all-star...nash is a super star and stoudamire a lower-tier super star (all of this my opinion of course)
Dude deferred to nobody. He attempts significantly more shots than Yao. Unless you mean "deferring" as in "not as effecient of a scorer as..", he's still as big of a chucker as he ever was. Tmac's got game, but lets not get carried away close to Kobe's current level. Tmac's a tier below the Wade's and Lebrons of the league, let alone the Kobe's. Only thing Tmac does better than Kobe now is passing, every other aspect of their games aren't even close anymore.
Marion got the highest salary in Suns and constantly competing for the number 1 spot with KG in some analysists big boards. Nash is the MVP and the best point guard. Sorry forgot Stoudamire did not play in that year.
again, even if tmac is not "as close" as you think to the other guys, his performance is good enough (hell better statistically) than kobe in the playoffs when he was teamed up w/ shaq. and dude deferred to nobody? u don't get 6.5 assists w/o doing some deferring. yao got a usage rate of around 28 so he's up there too. the ball was in his hands nearly as much as tracy. so in that fact, he deferred to yao for stretches in a game. and he still put up 25, 5, 7. not deferring is what kobe is doing. what tmac used to do in orlando.
tmac almost beat a detroit team that simply didn't have rasheed. they had billups, hamilton, ben wallace, tayshaun... and the best defense to boot that year statisticaly. and kobe's lakers believe it or not has more talent than tmac's magic. again i'm not against people who say kobe is better, but you are making it seem like he's 10X better.
and i forgot that part? which part of the suns has 3 superstars? marion is a role player at best that has been outplayed by odom in both series. amare didn't play in the first series (and that's why it was close). nash is a superstar. so that team had 1.
Do you think is there a team will sign a simullar contracts to his current one with T-Mac right now in in a couple of years? After his back problem, and his playoff record. For Bobe any team would be willing to sign a maximum contract with him.
It's the combination of players. Kobe for Nash may make Suns worth, but Kobe for T_Mac or Kobe for Yao will make Rox better. T-Mac and Yao have the same weakness. T-Mac + Yao + Role Players = First Round. I definitly think Kobe + Yao (or T-Mac) > First Round.
When Shaq played in LA, it was Shaq's team. Last year, T-Mac said "My team and it will be on me in national TV." One says something, he has to keep that. Now you guys complaims Yao was not playing like Shaq.
