Let's say you really wanted Kobe, I don't think the Lakers take TMac straight up.

If you could put your feelings aside (which since I can't do it I doubt anyone else will) would you consider this trade and does it get us a better chance at the championship?

    Rockets trade: Yao, Francis
Lakers trade: Kobe, Bynum, and #1 pick

Rockets lineup- Bynum-C, Kobe-SG, TMac-SF, Scola- PF, Rafer- PG
Bench- Battier, MJames, Hayes, Bonzi, Deke/Butler, Luther, Landry, Brooks, Snyder.

(I wouldn't do it- BTW) but it is the only one I could see actually possible.

He's a cowboy fan?!!! That seals it, Tracy, Battier, Francis and 2 first rounders Not in consecutive years for Kobe (Include James, Alston, or Bonzi instead of Battier if they'll go for it).

I just don't see Les sending Yao out.Of course he's a class guy and a heck of a player, but he is also a cash cow for the franchise.

Personally I'd seriously consider that deal as Bynum is NOT chopped liver and is so young, plus we have help at the 5 until he matures. We also get the pick which would be pretty decent.

And of course we get the best player in the game.

Remember Yao has already had foot problems even though he should blossom healthy in this offense. He still has plenty of upside due to injuries, new offense, less commitments during the offseason, and starting later at a higher level of hoops.

Imagine the depth/flexibility for other deals though.

I trust whatever Morey,CD,and Adelman cook up pretty much at this point.

The Rockets would never even consider trading Yao Ming, so I dont understand how you could see this is possible. Use your head.

God, we do not trade battier, PERIOD! You don't find a player like him very often. If they want Battier then hell no. Who are you gonna put in that spot when he's gone? NOVAK is playing the worst basketball I've seen in ages and you guys think he's ready to contribute?
Bottom line is the Lakers will not trade with Houston. If they are considering to trade Kobe, then that would mean they are rebuilding. If they are rebuilding, then they don't care about winning. If they don't care about winning, then why would they want a player in his prime when they could get several young ones that they can rebuild with. Case closed, thats all I'm gonna say about Kobe. Not gonna happen.

If the lakers were trading Kobe to make them selves better you would be right, but I don't think any one believes that there is a trade that will do that for them. The reality is that if Kobe is traded it is because he forces a trade and the lakers owner is tired of his act. In that case, much like the Francis for TMac deal we can get the better end of it because the Lakers don't have alot of better options. Let's face it, the teams that can offer young super star quality talent like Lebron aren't going to do it for Kobe, and Kobe is unlikely to sign off on going to any team who's draft picks are going to be high enough for the lakers to care. With Kobe's no trade clause he definitely gets to pick where he is going and it will be a contender. Likewise the team recieving him would be foolish not to lock up a contract extension prior to the deal going thru.

quite possibly the dumbest post i've ever seen on this board. don't trade for kobe if battier is involved. lolol. so sad.

so, if the rockets had kobe, and the lakers had tmac and battier, kobe for tmac and battier would be the biggest no-brainer/ripoff in history, right?

thanks mom and dad, for providing me a proper education and enabling me to have brains.

The Lakers would love to have Yao, although Bynum may be too high of a price to pay, especially since they refuse to move him for guys like Kidd and J O'Neal. A Yao/Kobe straight up deal would probably be accepted. They've wanted Yao since he declared for the NBA draft and was supposedly putting together cap space to sign him Shaq-style once he became a FA,

I don't think the Rockets would trade him unless they could get Bynum, and maybe not even then. Yao is a cash cow and Bynum isn't.

If i am Morey i would trade Tmac for Kobe right now...not even a question. Kobe to Tmac is like Jordan to Kobe...no comparison.

If Les can win a championship with Yao, then he can cement his legacy with Chinese fans, thereby tremendously increasing the value of the Rockets' franchise. The Rockets can become the "America's Team" of China. $$$$$$$. Yao is not going anywhere. Les didn't become wealthy by preferring less money to more.

LES + MOREY does not = LESS MONEY. So Yao stays.

Yao isnt going anywhere. I'd love to take Battier and his "intangibles" and send them to LA. As much as I love McGrady I'd have to get rid of him for Kobe. Kobe is a shark and when he smells blood he goes for the kill.

Some of you guys act like Kobe is miles ahead of Tmac when it really just a step. Kobe MIGHT be better than Tmac, but not by much. Besides what can Kobe do that Tmac can't? name one.

I can name something Tmac can do that Kobe can't, and that is make his teammates better by being a playmaker and making great passes.

Oh wait....i just found something Kobe can do that Tmac can't.....that's the ability to freeze out his teammates.

When you say America's team, is it for both reps and dems? ;)

LOL I felt the same way. People are out of their minds if they think Les will even consider trading Yao.

Yao's not been in the same league as Shaq during those LA title years...if Yao played as good as he did in the reg season in the playoffs last year we would have advanced but sadly t-mac had to do it all...I love yao but he let Okur outphysical him and frustrate him.

exactly. tmac had a down playoff series for 3 games last yr. but then when kobe played with shaq, shaq would pick up the slack.

last yr was the perfect time for yao to rise up and put this team on his shoulders when tmac struggled on the road.

yao is nowhere near what shaq did to help the lakers win those rings. kobe can struggle mightily for games and shaq can still pull them out.

when tmac struggled mightily last yr, it's a loss. but we have depth this yr.

T-Mac is a Yankees fan AND a Cowboys fan--geez I wouldn't even fault the guy if these were his hometown teams but WTH!

T-Mac to Kobe on the court is similar to Ewing and Dream...their stats/games may look similar but there's a world of difference.

T-Mac physically is already on the decline unfortunately and is all world at times or in stretches but he's not nobody's gonna carry a team like Kobe is doing now...with Kobe the Rox might win 65 games this year and the Lakers with Mac would miss the playoffs by a long shot (especially once Mac stopped caring).

Kobe's not Mr. Nice guy but the Rockets need to "man up" and grow a pair most nights anyway. (or maybe I'm just mad T-Mac's a Cowboys fan!! :D )
