It's nice that the Rockets now have the pieces to even be considered for something like this. A year ago they wouldn't have even been mentioned...

Just something I noticed during the replay. T Mac didn't play and Bill Worrell mentioned that Morey had been on the phone all day.

    Stay tuned...

Neither did Yao or Francis. I think Adelman was trying to get one last look at the end of the rotation players.

Can we stop all these trade threads? If you were Tmac, what would you feel when you find half of the folks on his team's fans site want to trade him? This team is ready to make a serious run for the title and we are doing the last thing we should do to alienate our main guy.

i don't think he cares about the small sample size of fans on here b/c most houston fans adore him.

i think he'll be hurt if management does bring it up publicly though.

Thank you Sooner for providing the clip.

This is a little perplexing to me. Up to this point all of the Kobe-to-Houston rumors i've heard and read about seemed to have been pure fan speculation up to this point. Screamin' A. speaks of this "rumor" as if it's some kind of well know fact that has been discussed for quite some time.

Granted, it's Screamin' A so i'll take it with a grain of salt but it's very intriguing to hear this kind of information presented this way. He makes it seem almost legit!

You know what the funniest thing about this thread is?
You know how Clutch pipes in Google ads as comments in the threads, that are supposed to be relevant to the discussion? Well, I don't know about you guys, but I see a lot of ads for Kobe beef being pushed to me :D

I guess Kobe would like Morey better than the dude who only got Fisher this offseason.

geez kobe for tmac would be one heck of a deal for Rockets because Kobe brings so much to the table, but honestly i think with the team we have currently, I would go with Tmac. Tmac is one hell of a passer n can play almost all 4 positions, PF, SF, SG n PG. Kobe cant do that. We have great role players in the team n Tmac can create great chemistry n can play with these role players because of his vision as a passer n can create his own shots. all these attributes i choose Tmac over Kobe. Yeah if Rockets did not have such role players, I would do Kobe for Tmac any day just because Kobe is a better leader with heart than Tmac n brings it every night, n no one can argue that!!!

I am with R2K. The sheer disloyalty Kobe is showing the Lakers after they built the franchise around him and stood by him unequivocally during his rape trial is disgusting. If you don't think he would turn on the Rockets when the going got tough (or his two years were up), you're nuts.

I also think that from a basketball standpoint, it's not a slam dunk, either. Kobe is older and has just as much wear and tear on him than McGrady. The Rockets would have to give up a lot of depth to get a player who might not be better for this team.

I can't conceive of the Lakers trading him to any team in the West, anyway. Unfathomable.

I'm not sure about this one... Kobe has the rings and the killer instinct, but he's an ass. T-Mac seems like a genuinely good guy, but he never got out of the first round and does not seem to be able to take over when it matters. Really tough call.

Kobe's fg and ft % are much better, but that might also have to do with the role T-Mac had to play in van Gundy's offense. On the other hand, T-Mac averaged more assists in 5 minutes less per game. Also, T-Mac seems to have good chemistry with Yao - our franchise player - Kobe might have had a role in driving Shaq out of town.

I can't make up my mind. In a perfect world, we keep T-Mac, Kobe misses the playoffs and the Rockets win the NBA title 2008 :).

To me, there's a peculiar draw of getting Kobe because Tmac's back is unreliable and he's spoken of retirement because of his pain. But for the other qualities, I would side with Tracy. Kobe might be a clutch shooter, but Tracy has his moments when he's pain free.

It would take me some time to be a Rockets fan again if Kobe indeed was traded here. He is one of the single players that I hate on the court and off....I don't know if I could handle his @SS being part of the Toyota Center.

And Kobe/Shaq only worked for so long.

We don't need Kobe/Shaq (Yao) part 2, with Kobe taking away from Yao.

    I'm disgusted.

It kinda amazes me how fast a lot of you are turnin on TMac. This is the year. We don't need anybody else...even if its Kobe. We have all the pieces to make a championship run.

I think people here have forgotten one important factor.

Did rockets and Lakers have that phone conversation regarding availability of Kobe? Did this take place?

    Why I asked?

Well, if it did take place, it means that our GM is interested in Kobe (who wouldn't, and i am sure 99% of the NBA GMs called),

If we are interested in Kobe then we know what it will take to get him and what it will mean to the organization.

Rockets has said it before, we are in the winning mode NOW! so we need to do in order to secure the highest probability to win.

we traded away SF for Tmac, why not Tmca for Kobe.

The ball is in Lakers hand.

I think their biggest concerns are:

-getting equal value in return plus high draft picks
-sending Kobe to the East (no team in the east would trade with lakers for equal value in players. no wade, no lebron...etc)

-Lakers wants to position themselves for the lebron sweep take, as lebron is growing unhappy everyday with the cavs and no way NY has the chance now with all the things going on.
-lakers needs to keep people showing up in games until lebron come. tmac is the best they can get.
