Crawford looks like a deer caught in the headlights more times than not, and IMHO Keyon Dooling is better than him. Dooling plays with far more composure, and I think he'll be the better player in the long run. Also, the fact that Crawford has had a hard time getting playing time, over the likes of Bryce and Elamin, doesn't speak too well for him. When you get beat out by a second round pick for minutes, and you're a lottery pick, what does that say about you? To me, it says Crawford was an overhyped big guard, who the GM's started drooling over, because the big guard is popular right now, so he got drafted very highly. Last but not least, Crawford makes our own beloved Dan Langhi look like Atlas. Marcus Fizer's inside game is non-existent. Forget a go to move, Fizer doesn't even have a move.He usually just tries to body his way to the basket, and attempt an off balance shot. 22-23 points? Don't bet on it. His offensive repetoire consists of the layup and that's about it. I've cringed after seeing many of his outside shots brick so badly. I would rather have Kenny Thomas than Marcus Fizer. The Brand comments ARE true. He said if they're losing like this when he's rookie contract is up, he would definitely consider leaving. ------------------ [This message has been edited by tacoma park legend (edited April 12, 2001).]
You're CLUELESS!! Bryce messed up his leg and his season has been over for a bit now, El-Amin was cut last month and isn't with the team anymore, and Crawford has been STARTING. Deer in the headlights? 17 points one night...5 steals the next...7 assists the next. He's been showing why he was selected where he was...and doing it very well. I hate it when people spout off and don't know what they're talking about. Fizer has no inside game and his sole move is the layup? LOL! And I challenge you to show me ANYWHERE that Brand said he'd consider leaving. Show me. Gimme a link or shut up. Gimme a link *and* shut up. You make Rocket fans look bad. ------------------ [This message has been edited by gettinbranded (edited April 13, 2001).]
You think I didn't know what you just spouted off? Good call, you're just further proving my point. Your lottery pick needed an injury to Bryce ,and Elamin to get cut ,JUST to get good minutes. He got beat out for minutes by an out of shape second rounder, and don't give me that BS about how Floyd was bringing him along slowly or anything like that. Hell, Guyton was ahead of him in the rotation before he got injured. I see you've named 3 games where's he's had halfway decent games in ONE category. Enlighten me as to what that proves. Please don't tell me your using those games as a sign that he's consistent. You laughed off my remarks about Fizer, and I see you didn't provide anything to disprove what I said. Why don't you tell me why Fizer is so good? I don't have a link for the Elton quote, I just remember him saying it preceding a rockets-bulls game. It wasn't in any way putting down the organization, he was just implying that if they didn't show any progress by the time his rookie contract was up, that he couldn't help but look at other options. You could have done alot better in last year's draft IMO. ------------------
El-Amin was cut to make room for Guyton and JC to get minutes. JC had played just 17 games of college ball, and one year of high school ball before he became an NBA draftee. That means that El-Amin, Guyton, and Drew ALL had several years of polish on their game while he had very little. Of course he's going to sit and watch and learn and come along slowly. Everyone was spoiled by the sucess of Brand/Odom/Francis---but they are the exception, not the rule. Most players need some time in the league to become acclimated to the higher level of play. It's never been more evident than in this years draft. He's done for the season with an injury, but if you watch any of his last 15 games, you see a drastically different player than you did at the beginning of the season. Nope---he couldn't beat them out. But now he's running the offense well, his jumper is falling, his defense is up and it's all coming togather. Believe what you will. You'll see next season... Fizer? What did he do in college? It's the same thing he's doing in the NBA---jumpers, backing people down and shooting short hooks, and driving to the hole. He's a scorer through and through, and again, not the same player he was when you probably saw him in the first half of the season. Go here: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/gamelog?statsId=3403 Look at his point totals from the third of Feb on, the second half of the season...while up and down, he's shown a nice ability to score in this league. I'm still waiting for that link about Brand, and seeing how the league is bereft of good PF's I'm happy that we have two good ones. We'll be alright. ------------------
