Man the video cut too short. I would love to hear Gasol's rebuttal. From the split second body language, he probably said something like "queee? I wanted to avoid the 3 second violation, but thanks to you I hesitated and got the call..." but Kobe probably would cut him off half way and slapped his head.
I think Pau was just trying to avoid the defensive three-seconds call. Or... I mean come on, DeAndre is at the other end, that's Kobe's man. Pau should be playing the passing lanes or anticipating a rare Rasual Butler drive.
You guys realize that Pau would not have been called for defensive 3 seconds IF he did not leave his man. Defensive 3 seconds is only called if you are not guarding anyone, which he stupidly decided to do.
it shouldnt have been a defensive 3 second violation, pau cleared out when he went to go help on butler which he shouldnt have done.. and even if he stayed in the paint he was guarding deandre jordan so there shouldn't have been a call period.. just a defensive mistake by pau and a ref blowing a call
For such a great player Gasol sure gets yelled at a lot out on the court by Kobe and Phil. I noticed Phil yelling at him today heading over to the bench during a time out. I think at some point if I was Gasol i'd tell them to f' off.
An offensive 3 sec violation was called for that possession, though Pau should not have left his man.
