The NBA is so cynical, they're more scared of the fact that he's an impending FA than they are of this trial. (I almost typed it as "trial.")
Expect to see Phoenix beg, plead, and bribe Charlotte to take Jahdi White off their hands in th eexpansion draft so they can free an extra 6 mill. They won't move Joe Johnson, IMO, he's playing far too well and they're razor thin at guard if he's moved. Evan
I think it would make more sense for him to go to the eastern conference on a where he can be the man and it would be easier to lead a team to the finals. he wants to tbe like Mike so maybe Chicago??
Denver Post is reporting the Nugs will go after Kobe. I don't buy it. First, AWFUL PR move, second he and Melo don't like each other.
I highly doubt any Kobe deal happens this season. Moneywise, the Grizz would have to throw in a 3rd player making more than $4.6m... Bonzi Wells - has passed the required # of days to be traded Lorenzen Wright Michael Dickerson - only valuable for cap space- irrelevant to SEA or LAL Jason Williams Bo Outlaw James Posey Stromile Swift How good is Memphis with Kobe but without Gasol, Miller and one other player from the list? During the summer, a third player would still have to be used to overcome a Miller SnT as he likely becomes BYC. But if MEM wants Kobe that bad, the Rox will help them with the trade by sending them a pick for a re-signed Swift (using the TE).
Phoenix will have enough capspace to sign Kobe straight up for the max btw. They will at least dump Jahidi White on the Bobcats giving them about 14M$ capspace.
Easy, why do you think Malone will retire? Won't he need another season before he can pass (is it Abdul-Jabbar?) on the all-time scoring list?
He is behind Kareem 1677 points. He averages 14 ppg with the Lakers. He is no longer a 20 ppg player, due both to his age and to his role on the Lakers. Let's be generous and assume that he'll score 16 ppg the rest of his career. 1677 points will take him about 105 games. They say he's not ready until at least March. The Lakers have about 22 games left in March and April. Let's also assume that they get eliminated at the 3rd round. With an average of 6 games a round, that's 18 games. In other words, he probably needs to play at least 65 games next season to have a shot at Kareem's record. (If he doesn't get injured again this season, he'll have played about 65 games this season.) I highly doubt that he won't get injured again. His is knee injury, which is easily recurring. At his age, the healing process is long. The Lakers will probably save him for the playoffs and won't gamble to put him out on the floor too soon. Of course, all this is speculation and lots of assumptions. But I don't think Malone is having a lot of fun right now. (The squabble between Shaq and Kobe doesn't help either.) He is chasing two things, a ring and the scoring record. If his health doesn't hold up for enough games for the record, the only thing left is a possible ring. Now if Kobe bolts, I am pretty sure he'll call it quit. Just my gut feeling. Could be wrong.
The Jahdi White is an 'if' Don't think for a second that the Bobcats will do the Suns a favor w/o some serious incentive. The Suns also won't be the only ones trying that trick. Due to financial obligations, I can't see the Bobcats taking on more than a $6 mill salary, no more than 2 years in length, and not from more than one team. Let the bribes begin. Evan
Poor Kobe! Its a pity that Laker give up him.hes just a 25 years old, look at Malone, allen, payton,oh,what have u done?
Gasol is going to Seattle in that scenario. So it actually would work out to be Kobe for Mike Miller and Ray Allen.
