Actually, I would say that 0-12 is better than 5-8 because at least 0-12 is three trips to the playoffs instead of just two. But either way, neither guy won a series, so there isn't a point in arguing which inept star that couldn't lead his team past the first round without an all-star teammate was "more accomplished."

Kobe is not the undisputed best player of the past decade. There's a guy in San Antonio with more MVPs and the same number of Finals MVPs in that ten year span who has been making all-star and all-NBA teams every year.

If we're allowed to go back just a little further, say to 1997, Kobe is only the third best player, behind both Shaq and Duncan.

Two extra ring > One REGULAR season MVP.
Not to mention Kobe killed Spurs every time they met.
Lakers vs. Spurs 4:1 in the last decade, no way TD's the better player.

Three of those times it was Shaq and Kobe that beat TD. Don't forget that basketball is a team sport.

Pretty arrogant already giving Kobe ring #6. Duncan is the best PF of all-time and has Kobe beat in numbers & accolades; only a biased Kobe troll would rank Kobe above due to one more ring.

The Kobe fan club patrol only believes basketball is a team sport during those years when Kobe doesn't have HOF teammates to carry him.

Its a lot easier to make your teammates better when you have better teammates.

I guess the world is full of biased Kobe trolls then.
TNT did a weeks long poll last year for best player in the decade, and Kobe won it with a landslide. Deal with that.

Most people think so and you happen to be the minority, like it or not. And if Kobe gets another FMVP, there won't be any more debate.

I disagree. Kobe won 5 games in that timespan with Smush Parker, Luke Walton and Kwamay Brown.

Pau Gasol won 0 games in 12 tries with a vastly superior roster.

Give Kobe JWill, Mike Miller, Bonzi Wells instead of those 3 guys and they might even make the Western Conference.

Dumbest thing I've ever read. Prime shaq destroys kobe in everything but free throw percentage. Please kindly remove kobes goods from your mouth

I agree. Kobe's beaten out all these guys now. Before when the ring count was closer, then yes.

Kobe's on his way to #6 and 3 straight Finals MVP's and has left both Shaq and Duncan in the Dust.

And somehow Kobe managed 10 all defensive teams and Shaq had 1. You credibility is all time low now.

if the rockets had only pulled off a mcgrady-kobe trade...

watching this years team has me wishing we at least had tmac back (in his prime of course). i'm just saying.

i hate that our team has no truly elite player.

In goodbug's defense (I can't believe I just typed those words), we're only talking about the last decade. So TD has 3 championships and Kobe has 5.

TRUE GREATNESS is a coach that recognizes that if his players know how to make IN-GAME adjustments while they are on the floor, that they will make him look like the Zen Master Genius that he is. How many other coaches in this league would let their superstar decide to check himself into the game for some other player other than what the coach thought at the given moment without checking off with him first? That's the magic of Phil and what makes him what he is. Phil gets in the player's heads, he gets in the officials heads. He's a head doctor.
