Yeah ughhh.. Kind of hard to argue. Lebron would have to drive by him on most plays and Kobe can shoot insane jumpers and make them from anywhere if he ever gets stopped on defense. I think thats kind of without question .The debateis if that makes him a better player? You have assists and rebounds to account for a players ability and defense. Then there is clutch factor which Kobe apparently wins inthat category but alot goes into who is better. Not just who would beat who 1 on 1. Because Hakeem Olajuwon would beat all centers 1 on 1 with his vast skill set going by them shooting over them, going around them, falling away on jump shots, and hitting open ones. So by that logic he is the greatest center of all time. Which I wouldnt necessarily argue against the dream being the best center ever.

And yet that's completely irrelevant to my point, since that's in a team setting, where Kobe's got more talent around him than Lebron has ever had in his career. Nice try though, maybe next time.
lebron getting more assists= ballhog. if you were the cavs coach would you not want lebron controlling the ball most of the time?
Just someone is so full of himself to say he gonna win a match, it does not mean he already won a match that hasn't happened.
The Cavs coach was a moron. If you are trying to imply that Mike Brown could even talk to LeBron without his permission, you are one crazy individual. LeBron is a great player, but was not in a structured system like the one run in LA. He was given free will to do anything because MB and DF were his b****.
lol. kobe: 21.5 FGA/GM lebron: 20.1 FGA/GM things i've learned in this thread. the bigger, stronger player is actually quite easy for the smaller, weaker to push out of the paint (makes perfect sense). lebron couldn't take kobe, but dwyane wade, whose strengths and weaknesses almost perfectly mirror lebron just in a less physically imposing body, would be a great match. lebron can't handle the ball very well. kevin durant, who doesn't have elite handles, could take kobe. lebron is easy to neutralize (yes, every team just chooses not to). kobe has a higher career scoring average than lebron despite lebron's 2.5 ppg lead. kobe doesn't score as much as lebron because he's so busy sharing (while taking more shots) with all of his teammates, while also not getting a ton of assists. kobe takes insane jumpers from everywhere and always hits them (those 40% shooting percentages in the two playoff series where he was most relegated to jumpers were apparently lies). kobe once hit a fallaway, well-challenged 18 footer over lebron, therefore he would make every jumper over lebron, which goes against a rather large body of evidence indicating kobe does not make all of his jumpers. it's actually easier to stop people from getting to the basket in 1 v 1 games and easy to keep bigger people from posting up and backing you down with no distracting help defense. this has truly been an education.
So the next question is why would you want us to get a guy 2x worse than a player you call Lebrick? If Lebron is Lebrick in your eyes Melo must be lower than dirt
QFT. Man you owned everybody here who seems to think all Kobe has to do is impose his will to win and LBJ will stop dead in his tracks.
Depends on the matchup: Kobe vs. LeBron: Although Lebron has more an advantage with his size, Kobe wins because he cares about winning (he doesn't care how he does it). Lebron would get too focused on trying to prove he can use all of his skills instead of using his size advantage by just backing him down every time. Kobe would do whatever it takes. Kobe vs. Durant: Durant wins. Durant has a much better 3pt shot and would simply not be bothered by Kobe's defense. He can shoot over him anytime he wants with his gumby arms. Kobe would have to play up on Durant in order to try to pressure the 3--which would be futile anyway, but then he'd get driven on and with two dribbles would be at the rim. Durant vs. Lebron: Lebron wins. Durant doesn't do as well against physically strong players (like when Artest bodied him). Lebron would just body him up and stay in his face on the 3. Durant would get knocked back whenever Lebron drives or posts.
LeBron talked about how he wanted to participate in dunk contest and dodged in no time when he heard someone like Brown would participate too. If Stern insists a one on one between him and Kobe, he'll retire immediately.
I'll give you that, I was too quick to answer because i was annoyed by Yaonow, again. However, that still doesnt mean Kobe isn't a better one on one player. Going back to my original comment, Kobe's natural direction is to score, while Lebron's vision isn't as narrow and includes passing right up there as well. That doesnt mean they're both going to stick to what they each personally prefer. They have to do what's best for the team and whatever works. In Lebron's case he's forced to score much more than he wants. In Kobe's case he's scoring less than he'd prefer, as in individual. For that reason, these numbers aren't true indicators of how they'd respond in a one on one game. In a team setting you have a lot of other factors coming into play that can work in Lebron's advantage and allow him to free himself up. You have plays involving picks and cutters, fastbreaks, ref bias, defenders being distracted, and so on. Lebron uses all this to score during the flow of a game. Of course Kobe uses them as well, so it's even, right? Yeah, for most of the game. However, when are all those things minimized as much as possible during a game? During one on one situations, in crunch time, because that's when plays go out the window, refs eat their whistles, and every one else on the court pretty much takes a seat to watch the showdown. And who's the best when it comes to these situations? Kobe. That's as close as you're going to get to a one on one game within the NBA. Kobe has shown time and time again he's the best closer in the NBA and although Lebron has his own heroics, he's clearly not on Kobe's level. QUOTE=yaonow]and yet lebron gets more assists.[/QUOTE] Are you implying lebron's teammates get assists for lebron through their own talent? It's Lebron who's putting in most of the work for those assists. He has had to spoon feed his teammates most of his career because they aren't very good on their own. Kobe's teammates have actual individual skills, AKA "more talented", so they don't need to be assisted, which is why Kobe would have less assists.
