And people need to quit thinking Kobe had a bad game in Game 7. Absolutely untrue. He had a bad shooting game. He grabbed 15 boards to make up for it, attacked the basket hard and got fouled and converted his free throws and played excellent defense whether he was with Rondo or Allen. Rondo took only 13 shots in 44 minutes while taking 15 shots the game before in 33 minutes...Kobe was giving him the J all day and forcing him to spots on the floor where only J's were available, seeing how shaky it was Rondo didn't force the J up like he did in game 6 where he was building brick house
Tim Duncan had pretty bad game 7 too in the 2005 finals at home. 10 for 27 from the field, 11 rebounds, 5 turnovers, i don't think you guys would cry about that?
I had a post right before yours above. Why would he need to say somethign bad about a player who was getting slaughtered the day before and JVG defended him? no need to jump around, i don't believe you, show me the video where he says it or an article otherwise you're just bullsh1ting
if you saw the game, you wouldn't ask. here are some media thoughts on kobe's night: Bill Simmons on ESPN.com wrote, "Gotta hand it to LA: tougher down the stretch and survived an epic stink bomb from Kobe. If you can win a game when your best guy goes 6-for-24, that's pretty good. As for Kobe's legacy... I think it took a hit tonight." Kobe Bryant won his fifth title in 2009-2010, despite shooting 6 of 24 from the field, routinely taking shots out of the flow of the offense, and generally failing to deliver in the most important game of his career (from http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....ltics-game-7-kobe-bryant-and-a-legacy-at-war/) and kobe bryant himself said about his performance: I SUCKED http://www.tmz.com/2010/06/18/kobe-bryant-i-sucked-los-angeles-lakers-game-7-nba-finals-video/ dude kobe SUCKED in that game. what else is there to say? lakers fans admitted to here in california. his teammates picked him up and that's a sign of a great team. kobe has been their best player and carried them for 2 series in between and 2 games in the finals, it was great to see others pick him up. nothing wrong with that.
The entire series, Boston never played defense on Bryant like they did 2 years before in the Finals, UNTIL game 7. I don't know why they waited so long to turn up their defensive intensity. However, it opened it up a lot for the rest of the Lakers. I seem to remember a lot of point blank shots that were missed by other Lakers in that game. If you watched the game you'd know that Boston wasn't going to let him beat them and it gave other guys a lot of room to operate. This is why people comparing Gasol's importance to Bryant is so ridiculous. Game 7, Boston decided Bryant wasn't going to beat them. Gasol didn't get near the attention.
open what up for the rest of the lakers (ANOTHER misconception). they all sucked offensively for the most part. the team shot 32.5% in total. they scored 83 points. they won b/c they played shut down defense (they out-D the celtics). dfish shut down ray allen; artest shut down paul pierce. celtics' bench was nowhere in sight. the only players who showed offensively for the celtics were rondo and kg.
I didn't say they capitalized on those opportunities. That's why I specifically mentioned the missed layups.
That's funny. Where is that logic for LeBron James? He had a bad shooting game but grabbed rebounds, got his assist, and locked down the best scorer on the other team yet people say he had a bad series and quit.
LOL and your definition of media thoughts is TMZ? LOL He didn't not suck. Now you're just being biased and a hater. His shot selection sucked, his shooting percentage sucked, did he have an overall bad game? Nope
He's a forward, he's supposed to grab rebounds, he has a ridiculously high usage rate so of course he's going to get a lot of assists, but look at what the game produced, people aren't throwing the word "quit" around just because they lost...its because when it came to making timely plays he was NOWHERE to be found. He didn't even attempt to set the ship right. Look over the pivotal game 5 at home in the cavs/Bos series, you'll see what im talking about And "Celtics best player" is so subject..one day is KG, one day its Pierce, one day it could be Rondo or Allen.
And no one responded to this!!! He missed 17 shots in game 7! while a hot Ginobilli was 8 for 13 for 23 points in that same game. Someone else was having a hot night and Duncan was jacking the shots, selfish aint' he? *sarcasm guys*
Boston did not have a player be their leading scorer in back to back game in all three rounds in East playoffs FInals Game 1 PP Game 2 Ray Game 3 KG Game 4 PP Game 5 PP Game 6 Ray Game 7 PP Games 5 and 7 Pierce was the leading scorer of his team by 1 point.
Ok I'll give you that. But on your initial comment you said Kobe didn't have a bad game just cause he shot bad. So did LeBron have a bad game in the last few games against Boston before he was eliminated? Or did he just have a bad shooting game?
I haven't seen a lot of threads around here calling Tim Duncan the most clutch player in the league or saying that he's in the conversation for greatest player of all time.
I don't recall what JVG was saying, but I know that Mark Jackson started comparing Kobe's Game 7 to the Game 7 by John Starks in 1994. It certainly wasn't because of his rebounding and defense.
Are you really in this much denial about your hero? Kobe was AWFUL in game 7. He got bailed out by his teammates again and again. Even though he was getting double teamed and couldn't shoot worth ****, he still felt the need to take way more shots than anyone else, most of them terrible. All of the greats have bad games (though not that historically bad). However, if there is one constant with Kobe, it is that he shoots like crap in the Finals. When you are consistently shooting 40% or less, why not give your big men more shots?
Did you watch him playing? The dude gave up, you could see his body language, he was not even trying. Of course, now we know he had already planned to get out of there and head to Miami, so no wonder he wasn't willing to leave it all out on the court.
To put it into perspective, 10/27 is only a little worse than what Kobe has shot in his entire Finals career. 6/24 is historically bad, especially when you have much more efficient players on your frontline. What a freaking primadonna ballhog.
