Naw. He really was good during the middle of his career.

In terms of being in the same conversation as Jordan, ABSOLUTELY. In terms of one of the top 15 players, no he definitley is especially with that killer instinct at the end of games. But he gets WAY too much credit for his championships. He had more help and the greatest coach of all time for all of them.

championships in the 80's were won by teams stacked with HoF players, 3, 4 or even 5, no one with less than 3 won a title.

The lottery dilution effected a lot of it, if you compared to the 2 comps, the worse teams of those years would be right down the bottom, and the 4 teams who won the titles through the 80's would be the best 4 teams in the current nba and it wouldn't even be close.

Saying Kobe won a title without another HoF player when there was no team in the nba with 2 players who have even made a first team (changed in '11 with miami), and only one (who they met in '10) whose 2nd best player had made a 2nd team.

Winning titles without a 2nd hof'er is a hell of a lot easier when you're not playing teams stacked with them.

I didn't read all the posts, but I'm here to state that Kobe is severly not overrated. Kobe will be HOF by a landslide and I hate Kobe a lot more than Lebron.

Heres some clutch stats on da "greatest closer in da game."

Last night Kobe didnt score a basket in da final 5:31 of da fourth quarter, and also had two crucial turnovers that cost em da game.

This also da first time since 2001 kobe score 20 or fewer pts in a playoff game three straight games.

    He shot 9/24 last night

Best closer in da game! Kobe is a cold blooded assasin! He has ice water in his veins lmao

But i dont hear anything in da media about him choking and not scoring in the last 6 mins of a game.

All we hear about is lebron james missing a couple free throws that still wouldnt have won a game decided by 3 pts, when he scored 28/9/5 and had a playoff miami heat record 6 steals.

Can you imagine if lebron shot 9for24, wit only 20/3/4? Lol, it would be on cnn, fox news, abc , nbc, espn, the view, good morning america etc etc

He had 27-19-10 and people were hating on him hardcore. Lebron is held to a standard higher than any other pro athlete including even jordan.

    ESPN's headline for the NBA

    "The Late Lake No-Show"

"L.A. lost a seven-point lead with two minutes left. Kobe was in the middle of it all."

You don't know what you're talking about.

Dude this is definitely not the same Kobe. We are talking about Kobe at the end of his career. I think this is pretty obvious. Think about Dream's last two seasons, Shaq's last two seasons, etc. So no he's definitely not the best closer in the game anymore but for the past decade, there is no doubt he was.

Kobe's a top 10 player but he's nowhere near Jordan. Looking old as hell out there this playoffs...

    Michael Jordan, age 33:

    *Played in all 82 games
*Won the scoring title with 29.6ppg (.486/.374/.833 shooting)
*Led his team to 69 regular season victories
*Won a championship against a Utah Jazz team with a Hall of Fame coach and two players ranking in the top 3 at their position all time

Kobe Bryant is in my estimation the second greatest shooting guard of all time. But it still boggles my mind that anyone would argue that he is in the same league as MJ.

I'm not saying Bryant is better than Jordan but I don't think it's fair to compare Jordan at 33 to Kobe at 33. Kobe came straight out of high school and has a lot of NBA wear and tear on him. Jordan at 33 was in his 12th season and Kobe at 33 is in his 16th.

If it weren't for his teammates not producing late in the 4th he wouldn't have had to take that last second shot. I think you misread that article, but I'm sure it said he doesn't care what people think, he's there to win and play the game he loves. Not everyone can be clutch like Durant right? He never misses last second shots to tie the game

And Jordan's rate stats took a hit because he came out of retirement at 38/39 to play for an awful Wizards team, yet they still dwarf Bryants. I realize Kobe has a bit more wear and tear since he came into the league three years younger, but another reason for Jordan's greatness is his insane durability. Aside from breaking his leg in his second year (and 94-95, when he played a fraction of the season after coming back from baseball), up to his second retirement Jordan's games played look like this:

    82
    82
    81
    81
    82
    82
    80
    78
    82
    82
    82

The man was just a physical marvel (and not really relevant, but he did have a higher FG% as a 40-year-old than Kobe as a 33-year-old). Though if you want to argue that Kobe should have gone to Duke instead of entering the league out of HS, you'd get no argument for me.
