This is the truth! Bird was probably one of the most efficient players, given his athletic ability (or lack thereof), to play the game. Deadly shooter and skilled passer who was mentally on a different level when it came to playing basketball.

He has about as much chance of learning from Bird's game as Thabeet would learn from watching clips of Dream.

Kobe is 36 years old with 18 years of NBA experience and he still doesn't get the idea that it is easier to score when you finish plays rather when you only create them for yourself off the dribble. He also doesn't understand moving without the ball or how to play inside out when you have a quality big man. He had the luxury of playing in Tex Winter's triangle offense and he mostly abandoned it at will. Kobe still thinks the secret to winning is for him to have the most moves of any player ever so that he can use his arsenal to make really tough shots in order to carry his team to victory even if he is actually killing any chance to win. He flat out just doesn't get what being a winner means. Listen to him talk. He sounds like a complete idiot when discussing how he leads and how much of an ass he is when doing it.

He is a scorer plain and simple. Luckily for him, he was surrounded with talented players and one of the best coaches the game has seen. Otherwise, he would very likely have ended up as a 6'6" Allen Iverson minus the swag.

The guy completely flushed the Laker's chance of the four-peat. To me, that performance was worse than anything Lebron has done (or not done) in the Finals yet it never seems to come up when discussing Kobe's legacy or how he stacks up against the true greats of the game.

    Agreed with Dave.

And to give Kobe a hint:

Paul passed more and shot less.

Kobe is an intellectual dude. I'm keen to see what he and Lin and the rest of the Lakers can do this year.

He's not even talking about field goal % or however you guys are interpreting it judging off his quotes. He's talking about being more efficient with his movement. He's old, so he's going to be more "methodical" and "purposeful" ie. he won't do 5 moves to get to 1 spot, he'll do 1.

I'm surprised no one talks about him getting injured again.

You don't have as many minutes played as he does. Have two seasons in a row where injury knocks you out and then come back and really have a chance to be that healthy.

    The guy is done
