I don't crown those who haven't done jack. And that's what LeQuit has done up to now....jack. Right now, we should be wondering if he'll be greater than Barkley or Malone. He ain't in Kobe's class yet.
We're talking about Shaq going to the Lakers in 96. That has nothing to do with Lebron, who was in middle school at the time.
Last year, I don't know. But they were in the top five in the league for several seasons before that and were winning around 30 games per year.
What is your point then? Shaq joined a team with Kobe already on it in 1996. Shaq couldn't take the Lakers anywhere until Kobe became a starter Who was really the Coat-tailer, Kobe or Shaq?
I'm talking about last year. Top salaries last year were the Lakers, Celltics and Cavs. Lakers won the Championship Celtics made the Finals Cavs leQuit
Kobe. Look at their PERs those years. Shaq put up 29+ PERs the first two championship years, something Kobe has NEVER done.
As long as Lebron wins multiple rings, it won't matter if he has more than Kobe in the end. People will recognize that he was the better player. Notice how nobody is calling Bill Russell the greatest, even though he has nearly twice as many rings as Jordan?
Kobe never played a game for the team before Shaq joined. Shaq did not join so that he could play with Kobe. Shaq was dominating the league in LA before Kobe was getting off the bench. Calling Shaq
Alot of people thought Barkley and Malone would win a bunch of rings too. We know how that went. Even Wade has better credentials right now. Lebron's the only dude that couldn't win with Shaq. 0 is 0.
All that dominance and playing with an elite player like Penny. And yet, Shaq never won jack until Kobe.
Well, enjoy it while you can, I guess. Low 20's PER Kobe will be recognized where he belongs in due time.
It's as simple as you are overrating the PER. LeBron forced his teammates to be outside shooters so he can go to the hoop way more than averaged perimeter player. He did increase his efficiency, but his bigmen had to suffer their efficiency to shoot outside, that doesn't count for something? PER uses personal assist/team assists as a factor. Compared to P&R offense, triangle does give the team more assists, but lower individual ball dominance and assists number. So Kobe is at disadvantage here for both ways, although his team is running a better offense. And that's not stupid? And last time I check, PER isn't the most important factor to evaluate a player. Get the championship as the man is. I am sure Wilt beat the **** out of Jordan in PER for his 50/25 season. So what, Jordan is GOAT and not even close. You LeQuitter fans are about stats, like LeQuitter himself. He grabbed a rebound from Ben to make his triple double that later was canceled. He wore a T-shirt with "check my stats" on it. Kobe's all about wins, and LeQuitter is all about stats. Last time I checked, you don't get the ring because you have the best stats, what are you proud of?
Shaq was playing in the NBA Finals while Kobe was in high school. He didn't have a ring, but he was winning games.
LeQuit's not winning a ring in the next 5 years. After that it gets real dicey. Before we know it, we'll be asking if Lebron will end his career like Barkley and Malone, chasing that ever elusive ring.
I think even you realize deep down that it's stupid to compare Lebron to Pippen. Or are we going to start saying that Kobe is at the exact midpoint between Pippen and MJ when he wins one more ring as "the man," adding to his three as second banana?
LOL, now PER is an overrated stat? Give me a break. How about Win Shares, LeBron crushes him there too. Hmm, now you say Kobe is at a disadvantage because he's in the triangle. Hmm who else was in the triangle...oh yeah....MICHAEL JORDAN! Face it. Kobe needed a lot of help to get his rings. First Shaq was THE man. Then Gasol was practically as good as Kobe (PERs very similar).
Winning is great. But the Greats are measured by Rings. Shaq couldn't get it done with a superstar like Penny. Not until Kobe became a starter did Shaq finally win a Ring. Shaq rode Kobe's greatness; just like Kobe rode Shaq's greatness.
