uuuuuuuuhhhhh. Man getting tired of all this t-mac hate. If Kobe was on this team right now he would also be 0-2. By the way Denver playoff defense is not Utah playoff defense and Kobe has Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom and Derek Fisher for example. When he didnt he was a monster who lost or didnt reach the playoffs. So who cares if you play an all around game or me game the result is the same. Anyway he had a good/great game not to take anything away from him.
the differences between kobe and t-mac? 1. kobe's playing the nuggets defense, t-mac's playing the jazz defense. 2. kobe's got some major help, tracy's got basically almost no help. 3. kobe's in the best shape of his life, t-mac's far away from that. 4. kobe improved his shot over his career, t-mac did not. oh but please don't give me this crap about how kobe has 3 rings and t-mac has yet to pass the 1st round of the playoffs. we all know the reason why kobe had this success is because of shaq. there should be no doubt that the younger t-mac would have a ring by now if he had played with shaq. on the other hand you've seen what kobe can do when he's got the talent on his team that t-mac got. he failed to win one single playoff series when he was in that situation. it's a team game after all and there should be no doubt that kobe would be the loser now if he and t-mac switched teams early in their careers.
Remember when we had a chance to trade Tmac for Kobe near the start of the season and everyone was all happy that we kept Tmac because Kobe is a ballhog? LOL
Kobe has Gasol this year and Tmac has been having Yao for a number of years and still can't get out the first round.
That's the hand that you're dealth with. What are you going to do to overcome it. Keep making excuses?
Even if we did have Yao and rafer we still wouldn't beat Utah. Yao would score, but he would give back up on the other end to boozer. Scola wouldn't be as effective with both stars in there. It would be just like last year.
Tmac got Yao, how come he can't get out the first round. This might be the first time in history that 2 superstars couldn't get out the first round.
5. Kobe can hit clutch FTs. TMac ... 6. (Similar to 3) Kobe's work ethic is consistently high. TMac ... 7. Kobe generally plays hard D. Tracy McGray (No D) ... 8. Kobe is an MVP candidate. TMac ... 9. Kobe is the leader of his team. TMac ... 10. Kobe is a proven winner. TMac ...
maybe because yao wasn't at 100 % AND caused a matchup nightmare. and just to remind you. last year, luther head was our sixth man. he managed to average 4.6 ppg shooting 30 % from the field. yet, he was still our best scorer off the bench AND our backup pg. options #3 and #4 managed to barely break the double figures mark offensively. and besides luther our bench consisted of chuck hayes and dikembe mutombo. i wonder if there ever was a team with such a bad supporting cast making it even a seven game series. but again, it's all on t-mac. what a loser.
t-mac is not as good as kobe but the comparisons aren't exactly fair. Until they got gasol the lakers were in danger of being a perennial 7th or 8th seed and kobe having the exact amount of playoff success(without shaq) as t-mac has shown. You can't do it by yourself, especially not in the western conference and one break here or there can change the whole fortune of your career. kobe's conditioning is fantastic but he doesn't have to carry the lakers the entire game. not even close.
Um, I believe that Tmac only lost a 3-1 lead once. Kobe lost a 3-1 series lead once too. And Kobe has disappeared in a game 7 before. I'm not trying to defend Tmac, just get your facts straight if you what to criticize someone.
you're right... kobe is the best in the game right now... there's no one on his level.. i wonder if kenyon martin will keep talking smack to him?
Tmac has very clear liabilities in his game, none of which have to do with not being kobe bryant. Remind me again, how far did 80 points and huge 4th quarters get Kobe in the playoffs when he had a crap team? There's nothing wrong mechanically with tmac's shot. it's the same shot he's always had... it's the shot that got him 13 in 35 seconds and numerous scoring titles. His problem is mental not physical... settling for the shot, not pushing for the highest percentage and questionable decision making, always taking long 3s at the end of shot clocks and quarters. Everyone knows tmac has liabilities. It's the same as Yao. Huge upside huge faults. It's like saying Yao's not Tim Duncan. But OP has no point to make this thread. Swap Kobe and tmac, Houston's still not beating Utah, which right now is one of the top 3 teams in the west. LA isn't that good anyways. All the homers are out in force all of the sudden kobe this and that. You can tell pretty much how much basketball knowledge someone has by their attitude towards kobe. He's a great scorer but needs help... a LOT of help to win ballgames. Alone with 2 borderline all stars he is nothing. On any messageboard guys who ride kobe's jock to the extreme after big scoring nights are all pretty much guys who have never balled
Kobe had rest and less pressure on himself to play well because the team was shooting well and much more fluid than the Rockets
agree. kobe is of course great but it is not all about him. everybody on this team is making shots, the bench is making them and lamar, gasol, radmanovic are playing really. that has been the difference so far
