I doubt magic bite on it, but I see it different from others. First off, I agree cutting chauncey to sign chandler didn't add up to me at all. I've liked chandler for awhile, but I felt like he was similar to ben wallace. He hurt the mavs more than he helped the knicks. Ben wallace helped the piston more than he helped the bulls. I personally don't see a problem with having a front line of chadler, howard, and melo. All this quote depth people are claoring for can be had through deals and smaller signings. Melo is a great scorer, howard is a great defender, rebounder, and good scorer, and chadler is a grea perimeter big defending and rebounding. Guys like toney douglass and landry fields are solid players. In the offseason, they can buy draft picks or sign players ring chasing. If need be, someone would take chandler off their hands for 2 smaller contract player. If I had howard, chandler, and mell as my core, I would feel pretty about my chances. With howard and chandler, you effectively turned every team to a jump shooting team.
Dwight is worth more than anything that the Knicks have. They'd trade their whole team for Dwight and the Magic would still say no thank you. I think Orlando is doing the right thing by holding out. Howard would lose a lot of money if he leaves straight like Shaq did.
If this goes down, I'd like to get in on some Tyson Chandler action. Couldn't happen until the trade deadline, and Chandler is way, way, way overpaid. But we need a real center and Chandler is no 4.
