Walsh isn't a fool. Led Indiana to a championship and had multiple times to win championships with them.

I'm looking at 2 expiring contract's for McGrady.

How about Mac and Scola for Hughes, Milicic and Jordan Hill? We get below the LT and don't have to worry about Scola's caphold and pick up a promising young PF to replace him who's under contract for another year.

Which ones? Hughes and Robinson? This would mean Gallinari and take on Jeffries. This lines you out better moving forward. 2011 you have Landry and Brooks to settle out and Jeffries gives you flexability. For that flexability you have to move Scola now.

If we can somehow get a package centered around Wilson Chandler I'd be ecstatic and very willing to take on two out of three "crappy" expiring contracts of Milicic, Hughes, and Curry. Al Harrington also has a hefty expiring and if he can somehow be replaced for one of the other guys we'd be sitting pretty.

I love Wilson Chandler's game and I think he's one of those young players with potential that can actually fulfill their potential and get better. The guy's 22 years young and he knows how to play the game and has the skill set to improve. In a league filled with young, talented players with so called untapped potential where fans/experts predict them to turn into superstars.... I'd put my money on this guy.

Acquiring Chandler also makes either Ariza or Battier expendable. One of them HAS GOT TO GO. I don't care which one leaves. I'm certain either one can net us a nice player in return at a different position whether they're packaged or traded straight up.

I wouldn't object and Knicks could possibly accept without getting raped.

TMac Expiring for Expiring + Hill is pretty much rape. Tony Douglas is a decent throw in who could offset the values, Hill and Chandler are worth a bit too much. Danilo is worth more than anyone we have, maybe on par with Brooks.

Edit: maybe not a superstar but definitely a "star".

Idk if Scola could go in with Tmac to NYC. Because his contract is 3mil itself, it would be harder to match that for the Knicks.

But say we get Hill and Harrington...one of our Bigs HAS to go. Another deal then, Scola put him on the trade block.

With Dallas getting Butler and Haywood, Cavs (maybe) getting Amare...one of these other conteders will offer something for Scola. He's a good player, it's just Landry is younger and I think it's time for him to start.

Maybe Denver would do a deal for Scola, or Boston...some team that looks at the recent deals and feel they need to make a move. Scola would be a nice piece to add...maybe even Portland for a backup PF and then they'd be looking at contending themselves next seaosn.

If we trade Scola it's going to be somebody to the East. Morey wouldn't be foolish to trade him to a western conference team especially Portland/Denver unless we got something really great back. If things go according to plan with a significant signing/trade and Yao coming back as planned next season... we should be contending as well. Serious contenders? Probably not but contending nonetheless. No need to help out a competitive western team.

    Hughes/Curry/Chandler

    For McGrady

Sure, this means we get to resign Scola and resign Landry and Brooks in 2011.

Yeah I agree...but say Portland is offering one of their young scorers? I'd say if Scola were to be put on the blocks...it makes sense for these two teams to talk. Portland really has no one to back up Aldridge, and Pryzbilla might leave any ways. They could use another big for next season...and they have a surplus of young wing scorers. Rudy, Outlaw, Webster...maybe they are not Iggy or Martin, but those guys knockdown open shots at least.

If the premise of the deal ends up being Hill+ expirings, I would be ok with that. Hill can be an impact player, but if he flunks out, we don't take that bad of a hit.

Actually i had it wrong. Keeping McGrady alone only gives you 9 million replacing him with Hughes gives you even less now to resign Scola and Lowry.

So you'd have to move Scola now just to recieve Chandler through a swap.

I want to get more than just Hill out of McGrady's contract, to be frank. I think Morey can pry away Lee instead, or add Chandler or Gallinari with Hill. He just has to play it right and be willing to give up a little talent in return, like Scola and Budinger, maybe a future pick too, as mentioned.

McGrady for Hill + expirings, by itself, is a borderline bad deal. Too much risk for too little impact. It's not bad because it wouldn't help us (it might), but because we can do better with McGrady's contract.

You have to spread it out over multiple young prospects like they do in baseball.
