We are NOT getting Gallo, Knicks see him as a player that is going to be part of their core. Maybe if we give up Brooks or something, but I don't think the Rockets are in a rush to get Gallo either...umm...as they have Ariza and I think our FO sees him as being a starter for tihs team a long time.
I dont think that will get er done. Scola is better than Hill and he is a question mark. Hughes and Milicic will be gone for sure and it's basically a Scola/Budinger for Gallinari swap i dont think that will get er done.
I could see it happening, but like I said, you have to be pretty crafty and play NY and Chicago against each other. Morey is crafty.
Geeze DD. What have they lied about? They said that they were willing to push the luxury tax limit for a special player. Is Iguodala really a player that you're willing to go into luxury tax hell for the next few years for?
I'm a huge Scola fan and would probably not do this deal myself, if in charge, but Gallinari and Hill are some serious young talent, especially Gallinari. BimaThug would say there's no way he would be moved by New York. Hill maybe, but not Gallinari, and he's probably right. Maybe if we included a future pick, but who knows.
Same ole same ole I think as far as Knicks info but here is a NYC Feb.14th article http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/15/sports/basketball/15mcgrady.html
I am not saying they lied, maybe mislead would be more appropriate. But to say they are on par with other organizations that are willing to take on more risk to win it all, is not fair either. The Rockets want to win, but economics are clearly the most important thing. They do make bets by buying extra picks, and that puts them above average for sure. I just think others are more willing to take on risk to try for the brass ring. DD
There is no doubt both NY and Chicago is aiming at signing 2 very good players and neither team can do that without McGrady's expiring contract. So just what if Deng goes to NY and they keep Hinrich and Jeffries and we take on everybody else outside of Lee/Galliniari Rose/Noah somewhere they'll be at even ground to make bids for atleast the top 2 players.
No? We get an unproven commodity in Hill and a somewhat unproven commodity in Gallinari for a proven world-wide star in Scola, and a somewhat decent rookie in Budinger? On top of a 23 million dollar expiring contract so that New York can aim for a big name player? It sounds like the Rockets are being ripped off if you ask me.
Correction, this deal doesn't really help NY aim for a big free agent much. They take a little bit of money off the books from Hill and Gallinari but that's all. The others are expiring contracts.
Gallo is a top 40 fantasy player this year... Something Luis and Chase will probably never crack... Jordan Hill is unproven, but If DM likes him, I will take that track record to the bank...
David Aldridge also mentioned again during the ASG that Rockets and Knicks still in talks and 50/50 that a deal could go down... Bring on the end of the deadline already!!!
One day we are going to look back and laugh that we traded Tracy McGrady to bring in scrubby Jordan Hill. Either way, I see this as Plan Z for the Rockets the entire time. I dont see how this trade fills much of a void, with Hill involved. Wilson Chandler would be the best possible scenerio as the "young player". I'm guessing NY would possibly want some talen back for him, maybe talent Morey doesnt want to part with.
I wouldn't be surprised to see something like this which would basically just be expiring filler and Hill: Tmac for: Hughes Mobley Hill
So is Scola. New York is thinking McGrady has something still in his tank and that his presense will help attract a big name this summer. Chase is a good young talent with potential and, if they are smart, they'll sign Scola to an extension. But your thought is why I suspected we'd have to include a pick.
