Houston Gets: Salmons Miller Hill NY Gets: McGrady Thomas Cook Chicago Gets: Harrington Hughes Houston gets Hill and under the luxury tax. NY gets McGrady, who they covet, as well as a nice young piece in Thomas. Chicage dumps Salmons for expirings.

Chicago wants no part of Hughes. They deal him to NYK. I think they will try to lure Wade, Chicago may be after Tmac just as hard with Wade's recent comments. One "Chicago needs to add another star..." and two "Tmac can still play..." and with how Miami has been playing, convince Tmac to take a big pay-cut, and Wade should bolt to his hometown.
Fair enough. Portland has a lot of so called "assets" but I think a lot of them are fools gold. Just for ****s and giggles if we were to trade Scola to Portland the most realistic players that we could get in return/should be asking for out of their young core would be a combo of players which include Webster, Fernandez, Batum, Outlaw and Bayless. Out of that group I'd want Batum and Fernandez in return possibly Bayless in place of Fernandez. I'd be willing to bet that Pritchard would least like to trade Batum/Fernandez and The players Portland would most likely offer in return would be either Webster or Outlaw with either Cunningham or Pendergraph. At which point the trade talk ends. No more derailing thread. What's with all the Jordan Hill love? If we don't get a package that includes a true asset like Gallinari or Chandler in return there should absolutely be no trade.
There should absolutely be a NY trade no matter what because at bare minimum it gets us under the luxury tax. Its no secret NY wants Tmac the player so its simply squeezing them for some value in addition to the tax saving. Hill offers us something we dont have much of: size, length and athleticism.
Agreed. I like Hill just fine, but he seems like more of a trade sweetener than an impact player at this point. He could develop into an All-Star but he certainly hasn't shown it yet at the pro level. Lot of risk that you wind up getting nothing back for McGrady's big contract. If Morey can make a real trade (not just a move to make a move) by throwing in a little bit of extra talent to get one of the assets you mentioned as well--or Lee--then that makes a lot of sense, especially if he just takes back expiring contracts. Get it done before the deadline and you can turn around and move the smaller expiring for something else, like a backup center.
Yea it's hard to imagine a third team involved unless it was NY and Miami and that 3rd team. As of right now though, Houston probably already has a straight 1-1 deal done they are advancing talks. NY is in position to land atleast one. Chicago is trying put themselevs in position to land one and both are pushing it to land two. Miami is in position to land one and maybe 2. Toronto and Cleveland and even Phoenix is out of talks.
wilson chandler would be good. I don't know why everyone brings up Jordan Hill, he is raw and plays a position we're fat at.
(Still talking to Chicago, New York and Philadelphia. They can do something that is not the long-term solution they'd prefer. -- Jonathan) So does that mean we still have a chance at Iguodala?
Imagine you are starving, and I offer you two options - big tasty slice pepperoni pizza with a turd sandwich, or a slightly less than ripe banana by itself. Assume for the sake of the analogy that you have to eat everything I give you. Which option do you choose? Is upgrading the unripe banana to a slice of pizza really worth having to eat a turd sandwich? Or maybe you'd rather just go hungry because the offer of a lowly banana offends a gourmand like yourself? And saying you'd rather have the juicy steak I am keeping for myself doesn't count as a option. You can say you'd take it, but I have to be willing to give it to you in the first place. And there is absolutely no chance I'm giving it to you. I like steak.
