That cant be right. Only 8 per? Is the second a player option? That would be the only remote negotiating tactic to lower his price that low. Promising a huge raise next year when the team isnt so crp and with the cap ris.
Just read the tweet. Afflalo is a gambling man. This isnt good news for my bucks. It also means that there are two wings left in the market . Whoever misses on matthews will go after brewer.
It isnt because there arent many ufa wings the knicks could sign and they were DESPERATE. Esp after missing on danny green. He was asking for 12 per afflalo was. The 6th men types (j.r sweet lou)still havent signed and nothing reporeted on them interesting to see who gets them. Wont be a priority for the big marjets who have too many holes atm. I think pretty soon we will start hearing offers to brew.
I'm a little surprised why teams aren't going after Brewer hard. I think he will command at least 8 million per year considering how teams are potentially willing to spend 12-15 on wes mathews coming off major surgery.
Afflalo is gambling he can earn himself a $20m/year contract in 2 seasons. I think he can on that team.
He doesn't shoot the three well enough. Teams are putting a premium on that and rebounding in free agency this year.
Yes, Afflalo has tailed off. But under current conditions, I think 2 yrs, $16 million is appropriate.
Brewer can't shoot and he's not a good defender. He isn't in the league of all these guys getting big money.
He shot 40% from three for the Blazers. He's not good enough to be your third best player. He can give you solid defense and shoot the three really well when he's able to just be a fourth option type. Don't think he's a good fit for the Knicks, but he'd good on the Rockets.
