    Ok so in terms of the pistons as a 3rd team scenario

    Pistons in: Anderson, Thomas, Quarterman(NG-waive), 1st via houston- to take on Ryan Anderson salary
    Knicks: Tobias,Boban, Taylor(NG-"camptryout"), 2nd via Sixers
    Rockets: Melo
    Sixers: get chinanu and Long(NG-Waive)+ cash considerations

    In my scenario, the 4th team was a salary dump of chinanu and long which they can waive for a 2nd rounder it can be a separate trade if be. I'm sure chinanu is worth a 2nd

    Yeah... this seems overly complicated (but I do see your point)

    Simple & to the point would be (what I suggested earlier)
    Melo --> HOU
    Ryno + 2nd via HOU --> DET
    Harris + the Expirings (TM) --> NYK

    I could also possibly see Jackson from DET to NYK for Courtney Lee

    It's crazy how the Verlander and Kryrie trade happened before the Melo trade.

    Ryno and Lee over Tobias and Jackson. Due to guys not buying in too.
