Knicks, Rockets working on Carmelo Anthony trade scenarios

When he says he's at peace right now, what does it tell you about his current situation?

Doesn't sound like a guy who is trying to get sent out of town. That's what the Knicks are feeling right now, which is essentially, who is pushing this? Is this Carmelo or Chris Paul? Does Chris Paul want him coming to Houston or does Carmelo want to go to Houston? That's where the Knicks are right now. If there's no trade that makes sense for them, they have to sit back & weigh their options. The new regime values Carmelo the player. They'd love for him to come in & talk to them. They'd also love to take some time & reassess this whole situation which has been so ugly for so long.

They're younger & trying to rebuild. They got rid of Phil Jackson. Do you think it's now time to move on from Carmelo? What he wants & what they want is not aligned.

Yeah, I agree with you. They probably are in that place but they also look at it as Carmelo is a good player, he has some value but that value has been completely demolished. They don't want to take back a contract that will hinder their rebuilding. Ryan Anderson, that's tough to take on right now. They don't want to take players back over the age of 25. They have to make sure whatever they trade him for or talk about trading him for is a good return, doesn't lock them into salary going forward & doesn't bring back older players.

Banana Boat friends - based on the people you've talked to in/around those players, likelihood we see a team of Carmelo, Dwyane, LeBron & Chris together next year?

What do you think? There's a part of me that could see them all ending up in LA. I could in a way but I don't know if LeBron & Chris are a fit together, I don't know if all four are a fit. I could see like two of the four. I like anything that gives us a chance to run that photo of them on the banana boat.

Michael Eaves: These guys are so tight & root for one another. I could see them wanting to do it. Whether it actually comes together is the real question.

It's hard to make happen. With Dwyane, we're getting to the place now where he'll probably ask for a buyout. He'll get to a spot where he can go somewhere for this year - Cleveland, Miami, LA(Lakers) - I know the Lakers talked to the Bulls before they signed KCP about trading for Dwyane. It would have to be the right scenario. I don't know if all four can get paid & all four can really get on the same team.
